Being stuck indoors for 9 months of the year isn’t a choice—it’s my reality.

After a vaccine injury, my body can react dangerously to temperatures below around 20°C. What most people experience as ordinary weather can become life-threatening for me. It literally means living in lockdown, unable to safely go outside for much of the year. I wouldn’t wish this isolation on anyone.

At the same time, I’ve learned so much about myself and deeper levels of resilience I didn’t know I had access to in the process.

So while the end of each summer brings with it a rather intense grieving process for me, it also brings deepened insights and musings about my internal world and how I can improve my housekeeping, figuratively and literally! 😂

Last night, I received an incredibly touching note alongside this beautiful floral arrangement from a special, young client who recently received some exciting news!

We worked hard together for a fantastic opportunity that she has secured for herself - and it’s only the beginning!

An incredible talent with a work ethic to match - she diligently practices in her own time, always coming to our sessions prepared to take the next step.

It’s a joy and a privilege to work with her, and I look forward to seeing all that she’ll experience and accomplish in what I know will be a very fruitful, and fulfilling career!

SO proud of you, E! ❤️🙏🎶

Performance anxiety is more common than one would think! It's not merely a condition relegated to beginners either.

Countless professional musicians and speakers have experienced those highly uncomfortable symptoms of stage fright. The clammy hands, tightened throat, nausea, sensation of needing to use the bathroom. It's awful! And it doesn't have to stay like that forever...

When the fear or anxiety become too much, it can create immense physical, emotional and/or mental health barriers for the performer. For some, the anxiety becomes too intense, they may even stop doing what they love altogether.

At Jeannette's Voice Studio, we help singers and speakers develop their voice while supporting the confidence, mindset, and emotional resilience that allow them to perform freely, and to step on stage with the determination they need to succeed.

After hearing about Perez Hilton’s very public mental health breakdown and witnessing a shockingly apathetic response to his suffering, I’ve had some strong thoughts and feelings arise that I’d love to get your thoughts on.

Much of this apathy stems from public opinion surrounding Perez’s past behaviour. On his rise to fame, he unquestionably made some poor choices by dragging celebrities (including their children!). Perez has attempted to make amends with those he affected, including writing about it in his book with deep regret. While I don’t condone his past behaviour, I see marked change and growth as a human. Much like the rest of us - he messed up, he apologized and acknowledged his errors, he grew and can now do better.

What I’m struggling to wrap my head around…because he “did a bad thing”, we don’t care for his suffering? We laugh at him while he’s in crisis? I find this highly unsettling.

Unpopular opinion? Conditional empathy will lead to the destruction of our species.

The need to “choose a side” is exactly the short-sided thinking that further divides us.

We don’t need to derive our identity via what we hate.

Whether you’re for or against a movement. A person. A religion. A vaccine. How have we, as a people, having existed for two millennia STILL not grasped the nuance of existence?

Whether someone is Pro Palestinian and Anti-Israeli or the other way around? We write them off? Can we not care for both peoples? Can we not care about their suffering?

Whether one believes in the right to choose abortion - OR, not at all, under any circumstance. We write them off? Where’s the nuance in any of this? Could we possibly know what someone is going through, privately? What their health is like? What their mental health is like? How can we hate someone so easily?

We’re either pro vaccine (all of them) or anti-vaccine (all of them). We will call them names and assume they’re unawakened or uneducated. And we’ll stop connecting with them.

We either love our leader or hate them. We fight amongst ourselves about them, rabidly. We say goodbye to family members for choosing a different side?

We hate any opposition? We can no longer find common ground - you’re either with us, or against us?

How did we get here?

We seem to be doing the opposite of evolving?

Why can we no longer hold space for someone whose beliefs differ from ours - still seeing their humanity?

Why are we so unwilling to sit with discomfort anymore? Why are we so quick to numb, surround ourselves with comforts and shut the rest of the world out when it doesn’t behave the way we want it to?

What has happened to finding reasons, not excuses, to connect with one another?

We need some heroes, guys! Those that are brave enough to firmly stand up against cancel culture and lead us back to mutual respect and embracing the humanity in one another, differences and all.

Time to stop “throwing the baby out with the bath water”.

A beautiful array of phonation from the water today, from a variety of species - thoroughly enjoyed paddling to the soundtrack of frogs, ducks, swallows, and bore witness to swans, herons, a falcon and an eagle. Deeply grateful for an inspiring experience ❤️🎶🦆

Excited to share ANOTHER FEATURE 🥰

Appreciating the ❤️LOVE from "Musician's Today" 🙏

Loving what you do is the ultimate flex, recognition is icing on the cake. Looking back, I'm so grateful for every leg of this incredible journey, the highs and the lows, and for being professionally recognized by peers of whom I hold in high regard. 🥂 A special thank you must go to my friend and mentor to a young Jeannette, Richard Coombs - the one and only 2Rude of Rudimental Records - for his guidance and encouragement over the years. Never wavering, always supporting. They say you become most like the 5 people you surround yourself with, so choose wisely. I'm lucky to have had the chance to work with some exceptional talent, and this is just the beginning! 👏👏👏🔥❤️
