Tanja's Daycare

It was a perfect day for a picnic at the park!
Fresh baked croissants, kohlbassa, cheesestrings, peppers and cucumbers all taste better outside!

We started today off by baking together.
Now we have fresh, healthy blueberry yogurt muffins for snack for the rest of the week.

One of the things the kids wanted to do this summer was painting with feet.
We do this once in awhile but on a much smaller scale with just one or two footprints.
Summertime means we can do much larger paintings as painting and clean up can all be done outside.
Now we just need these masterpieces to dry before home time.

Today was extra exciting as the sprinkler and the sun made a rainbow on the grass. So not only could we run though the sprinkler but we could also run through a rainbow!

Apparently my fence needed to be painted today…..with mud of course.
I think just as much mud ended up on the painting crew as on the fence and they all had to be hosed off when done.
And while I think the fence looks great, I have a feeling the painting crew will decide it needs to be redone. Multiple times or until the mud runs out.

Tanja’s Daycare has reopened for the rest of the summer but only for two days a week and only for a few of the older children.
So the first thing we did today was plan together what we would like to do on those summer days. This list of activities is being added to as we think of ideas. And water play will definitely be included.
The children also chose what to have for our lunches from the regular set menu.
Time for some summer fun!

Out for a walk on Snail Trail this morning where we saw many of its’ namesake and were lucky to find an empty shell.

Tanja's Daycare has two full-time spaces available for September.
One of these spaces can be for a child under the age of two, the other space must be for a child over the age of two.
As of September 2026, Tanja's Daycare will once again be offering the option of full year-round care. The option of a school-year schedule for care will continue to be offered as well.
Fees will be $50/day.
I am an RECE who has been running my home daycare for over 16 years. My daycare is currently peanut-free and I am very experienced in dealing with multiple food allergies.

It is officially “rinse off outside first” season.

Appropriate risky play is so important for child development and we are big believers of it here.
Today a friend managed climbing up on the clubhouse and looking through the top for the first time. This is a huge milestone here as all the big kids do this!
Other friends liked climbing the tree stump today and jumping off the bottom log.
Note: we still have rules such as no jumping from the top tree stump. Also the logs and stump were strategically placed by the chain link fence as it’s great for holding on to.
