I place an emphasis on educational and physical activities, all within the confines of a low-ratio, caring, fun, play-oriented environment. I am certified in infant/youth First Aid and CPR, and have a Vulnerable Sector Screening police check available. My semi-structured, day-to-day schedule was designed by an Ontario certified school teacher in hopes of helping prepare your child for full-day kin
dergarten. Daily activities include circle time, educational activities, story and sing-along time, arts and crafts, and outdoor play in my 80 foot wide yard equipped with a high-end playground set (pictured above). So that you are able to follow your child's development, a daily journal is sent home and themes/activities are posted on-line at http://weekly.tykesofkeswick.com . Lunch and two nutritionally-balanced, home-made snacks are provided each day. Organic vegetables and fruits are served where possible. Apart from an emphasis on educational and physical activities, the development of character traits, such as self-control, responsibility, and respect through positive reinforcement, underlies everything I do. Here is my semi-structured schedule:
Start to 9:00 Arrival and Free Play
9:00 to 9:30 Circle Time
Guided reading, singing, dancing, music, nursery rhymes, imaginative/dramatic play, puppets, etc.
9:30 to 10:00 Educational Activities
Reading, drawing, numbers, shapes, letters, colours, baking, flash cards, math, science, puzzles, etc.
10:00 to 10:15 Snack Time
Fruit, veggies and dip, crackers and cheese, graham crackers with cream cheese, bread with jam, bagels, etc.
10:15 to 11:15 Outdoor Time / Physical Activity
Sports, walks, etc.
11:15 to 11:45 Educational Activities
11:45 to 12:45 Clean-Up / Free Time / Lunch
Waffles with yogurt and fruit, eggs/sausage/toast, fajitas, pasta, grilled cheese, meatballs and rice, fish, pizza, etc.
12:45 to 3:00 Nap / Quiet Time
3:00 to 3:45 Circle Time
3:45 to 4:00 Snack Time
4:00 to 4:30 Arts and Crafts
4:30 to End Outdoor Time / Physical Activity
