Students honoured those who have served in our Nation’s defence today with a moment of silence and Canada flags at the roadside of our school. Armistice Day (November 11) marks the end of hostilities during the First World War.

Special thanks to Cook's Bay Dental 🦷 for the special trip to our school! Students learned about the importance oral hygiene, how to floss and even received some new toothbrushes. 🪥

Remembrance Day (also called Armistice Day or Poppy Day) is a Memorial Day celebrated in Commonwealth countries, such as Great Britain, Australia and Canada. It’s celebrated every year on November 11th.

After so many years, students may be wondering why it is important for us to celebrate and mark Rememberance Day.

This week, Pathways Students will be learning that it is all about memory.
During WW1 there were around 20 millian deaths and 21 million wounded in both the armed forces and civilian communities. Therefore, Remembrance Day is a day to honour and remember their lives and their sacrifices.

Students visited the Georgina Military Museum this week to learn about Remembrance Day, veterans, and those that have been lost. What an incredible experience!

Halloween and .Seuss !! Classrooms were transformed, prediction, chemical experiments and a lots of fun!!

Seasonal changes, composting, and being thankful!

Students recently visited the Community Safety Village in Whitechurch Stouffville. The village features a 10,000 square foot learning centre with police, paramedic and fire education classrooms, complete with working traffic, lights and signals and a fully equipped apartment or students learn to plan and execute, a safe escape in case of an emergency. Emergency Preparedness Week (EP Week) is a national event to build awareness about actions people can take to prepare for emergency situations. This annual event has taken place for over 25 years and this year is held from May 7th to 13th. The province’s theme for 2023 is “A Safe, Practiced, and Prepared Ontario” and is coordinated by Emergency Management Ontario (EMO). Today students learned about static electricity! Static electricity has several uses, also called applications, in the real world. One main use is in printers and photocopiers were static. Electricity charges attract the ink, or toner, to the paper. Other uses include paint, sprayers, air filters and dust removal. Static electricity can also cause damage. Students enjoyed their static experiments today!
