A bit of Little Pumpkin History
Did you know Little Pumpkins has been part of our community since 2011? 💚
Little Pumpkins began in 2011, following the legacy of the late owner of Happy Whale, and in 2018, a new chapter began when our current ownership, Juli, took over from Jenny.
While the names, faces and classrooms may have changed over the years, one thing has stayed the same: children are at the heart of everything we do.
From 2011 to today, we’ve been incredibly fortunate to be part of so many childhoods. 🌱
Thank you for sharing your most precious lives with us.

🌱 Leadership. Learning. Play. That’s Little Pumpkins. 🎃
Today, two of our school-age children stepped into leadership roles and helped Ms. Juli set up a brand-new invitation to play for our Green Room preschoolers. Using our new-to-us triangle table set, they worked together to create a little world of roads, trains, bridges, animals and adventures—then left it ready for our younger children to explore. 💚
We are so grateful to the family who donated this wonderful table set! What may have been gently loved in another home is now becoming the beginning of new stories, new discoveries and lots of imaginative play here at Little Pumpkins. 🥰
Sometimes the best learning happens when children get to lead, create, collaborate and play. ✨
📷 Visual description:
The photo shows two school-age children standing on either side of a low wooden triangle-shaped play table. They are working together to arrange a detailed wooden train and road setup, including winding roads and train tracks, colourful vehicles, bridges, a blue water area, trees, animals, rocks and a large green mountain with a tunnel. The Little Pumpkins logo and a colourful graphic surround the photo, with text celebrating the children’s leadership, teamwork and the donated table set.

📚 Transitioning with Stories, Connection & Community 🍽️
At Little Pumpkins, every part of our day is thoughtfully planned—even the moments between activities.
While some of our toddlers were washing their hands and having diaper changes with ms Emily (Emee), our owner, Ms. Juli, engaged the children with a story. As each child finished their routine, they joined their friends at the table, listening together and waiting patiently for lunch to be served.
This simple routine supports so much learning:
✨ Builds language and early literacy skills
✨ Encourages patience and self-regulation
✨ Creates a calm, predictable transition
✨ Fosters a sense of belonging and community
Once everyone was ready, we enjoyed our family-style lunch together. Sharing meals as a group gives children opportunities to practice conversation, independence, table manners, and trying new foods—all while strengthening friendships.
At Little Pumpkins, we believe some of the most meaningful learning happens during everyday routines. ❤️
