What a beautiful day at KCA Fall Harvest! Our whole school enjoyed a full and special day of learning and new experiences. From visiting the Spirit Horses and enjoying traditional dancing to learning about medicines, harvesting meat, and preparing fish, there was so much to take in! We also played games, tasted delicious moose meat, cooked bannock, wild rice, and the homemade jam was a hit. Each student even went home with a new book! What a wonderful day of learning, culture, and community for our KPS family!

Mrs. Appleby’s and Mrs. Randell’s classes have been exploring the changing seasons firsthand in our school backyard! The students have been noticing signs of fall such as cooler temperatures, shorter days, and leaves changing colors and falling to the ground.

​After reading "The Log Hotel," students collected natural materials to fill our school bug hotel. Now our tiny insect friends have a safe, cozy place to stay all winter long!

​Bug viewers made it easy for the students to get an up-close look at some of the insects and leaves around our backyard. It’s wonderful watching our young learners explore, care for nature, and enjoy the beauty of autumn together! 🐛🐞🍁✨

Our Grade 3/4 students are serving up some extra-special Thanksgiving cheer with their adorable 3-D pie table settings! 🥧We’re so thankful for our amazing students, our wonderful school community, and all the little things that make our days sweeter.

💚So grateful for our amazing teachers💚

World Teacher's Day is held annually on October 5th to celebrate the incredible work of teachers everywhere! Established in 1994, the day commemorates the signing of the recommendation by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). This recommendation highlights certain standards of education, training, working conditions, and personnel policies, and furthermore advocates for the continued improvement of educational environments for teachers all over the world.

Today is an opportunity to thank a teacher that made a difference in your life, celebrate the vital role of teachers, and raise awareness about protecting and strengthening public education. At KPDSB, we are incredibly lucky to have teachers who go above and beyond for our students and communities, and we are proud to work alongside you. Thank you for always putting our students first and for shaping the minds of all of our young learners. You make a positive difference every day!

October 2nd, 2026 is National Custodian Appreciation Day! Thank you to all of our dedicated and hardworking custodial and facilities staff for all you do. You are the first to arrive in the morning and the last to leave at night, and you always take pride in your work. Throughout the summer, you work tirelessly to keep our schools and offices clean, organized, and safe. You welcome students, staff and community members into our buildings and are always willing to lend a hand. Thank you for always making the health and well-being of all who enter our buildings your top priority—our students wouldn't be able to learn without all of your hard work!

A little Orange Shirt Day reminder for KPS!

Today, our entire school came together for the annual Terry Fox Run. We are so grateful to our school friends and families for supporting this amazing cause, and a special thank you to OPP Constable Gavin for coming out to our event! Thanks to everyone's generosity, we officially surpassed our $1,000 goal, bringing our current total to $1,350! Way to go KPS!

We will be participating in our school-wide Terry Fox Run tomorrow at 12:15.

We have currently raised $515 and are over halfway to reaching our goal of $1000.

Students are encouraged to dress in red and white to celebrate this Canadian hero and raise awareness for ongoing cancer research and support.
