World Teacher's Day is held annually on October 5th to celebrate the incredible work of teachers everywhere! Established in 1994, the day commemorates the signing of the recommendation by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). This recommendation highlights certain standards of education, training, working conditions, and personnel policies, and furthermore advocates for the continued improvement of educational environments for teachers all over the world.
Today is an opportunity to thank a teacher that made a difference in your life, celebrate the vital role of teachers, and raise awareness about protecting and strengthening public education. At KPDSB, we are incredibly lucky to have teachers who go above and beyond for our students and communities, and we are proud to work alongside you.
