Orton Gillingham (OG) is gaining traction within the teaching world.
This article from Education Weekly last month discusses why and how the OG method helps.
"teaching phonemic awareness, systematic phonics lessons, promoting reading fluency, vocabulary learning, and reading comprehension. Underpinning this reading instruction is its multisensory approach, whereby instructors use sight, hearing, touch and movement to help students connect language with letters and words."
What Is the Orton-Gillingham Method for Teaching Reading?
As states move to "science-based" reading approaches, a program developed for dyslexic students gains wider traction. See it in action.

Hi I'm Anna Walsh and I'm a qualified teacher who specializes in phonics, reading & writing with additional Orton-Gillingham classroom teacher qualifications. I've worked in local North Grenville schools, taught in British Columbia and British Schools internationally. For my post graduate certificate in Education I completed my dissertation on 'Learning to Read' and have ever since been focused on teaching children to, not only start reading, but excel in reading and writing.
I came across Orton-Gillingham while teaching in British Columbia and quickly saw how affective the structured multi-sensory approach was. It is enormously effective for children with dyslexia and reading and writing disabilities, but can benefit all children who just needed an extra push. I signed myself up for a specialized course and have since been gaining qualification and experience teaching it. What I love most about it is that it's structured, systematic, and each reading skill is explicitly taught but is also individualized to each student too.
If there are any children that would like extra help to boost their reading & writing, please reach out. This year I'm stepping out of the classroom and available to tutor any home school children 10-3pm.
This is me... mother of three boys (photo attached). My 4 year old twins are already on the OG reading journey and doing so well. I'll be sharing some short reels for those who would like some simple tips for home. Nice to meet you all, Anna
