Mairéad Frizell is the owner of and teacher at Tempo Drive Music Studio. Her passion and vision guide and shape the studio, staff and students every step of the way. A multi-instrumentalist with a BA in Music, 20 (and counting) years of business ownership and experience working with young children, Mairéad is shaped by every student, teacher, mentor, colleague and friend she meets through music and beyond.

Mairéad began her musical life most unlike many of her very young students, and began taking piano lessons at age eleven. Growing up in the picturesque and artsy hometown of Perth, it didn’t take long for her to decide that music was as essential as breathing!

Though playing flute, guitar, and alto sax were fun, Mairéad always seemed to return to the piano. After completing grade 9 piano, Royal Conservatory, Mairéad studied Music at the University of Ottawa and received her Baccalaureate of Arts in Music and English.

Mairéad is an Music for Young Children and Royal Conservatory of Music Certified Teacher and has been teaching for over twenty years. She plays in various local bands and ensembles and enjoys time with family.

Mairéad was proud to be named Leeds Grenville Greatest Entrepreneur in January 2026.

Julianne is one of our incredible vocal teachers! Her schedule has already filled up for this year, but we still want to celebrate how awesome she is!

A dedicated musician and educator, Julianne Porteous has spent the past decade honing her craft. She is a graduate of the University of Toronto Faculty of Music, and has studied abroad in parts of Northern Italy. She is comfortable with many styles of singing, including Classical Voice, Pop, R&B, Folk, and Musical Theatre. In her teaching, she believes that music builds confidence, social skills, and community. She tailors her approach to each student, and believes that most of all, lessons should be FUN!

At the University of Toronto, she discovered her love of helping others fall in love with their voices and singing. She believes that everyone has a voice that is uniquely theirs, and is passionate about the process of discovery!

Trinity Piette is a talented, multi-instrumentalist with performance chops, experience, and education from both Conservatory Canada and Carleton University. And it all started right here in Kemptville!

"I started learning about music when I was 6 years old through the MYC program with Sue Heidebrecht. After I graduated from the MYC program, I continued to pursue my musical education with Conservatory Canada with Sue Heidebrecht and Lorraine Griffith, in addition to my University studies in music. I have received the highest Conservatory Canada Grade 8 exam result in the Province of Ontario and have also completed Grade 9 and Theory Level 6 for piano. I have also volunteered while in high school as a mentor to young girls and women through my 14 years in the Girl Guides of Canada program, teaching them to nurture their individual gifts in a fun and comfortable atmosphere.

As I grew more confident in my craft, I started to perform both solo and with various bands in my local community, and have experience organizing musical events of my own. My love of sharing music led me to graduate high school with the most volunteer hours in my graduating class, and I am currently enrolled in a Bachelors of Music degree at University. I enjoy sharing everything I have learned in music with others, which has inspired me to become a teacher with the MYC program. I believe that music is made to inspire others and can be a useful tool in building important life skills at a young age. Music is a wonderful way to connect with oneself and others, and will provide a long lasting supply of enjoyment.

I have participated in several local bands on the piano and on vocals, and have been involved in live performance events both on my own and with my fellow band members. I am involved in music at my local church as a member of the Contemporary band as a pianist, and as an organist for the choir. I have also learned the trombone in high school and had been a member of the Senior Band and Chamber Choir, where we had travelled in Ontario for various school concerts and competitions."
