Project Literacy is a local charity that provides free literacy programs for immigrants, vulnerable families, adults, children, and seniors.

The final session of our Summer Reading Program for children in grades 1-4 wrapped up last week.

Congrats to our 3rd and final session learners who braved words, sentences and stories in order to strengthen their reading muscles. We hope the return to school in the fall is a little breezier!

The Summer Reading program provides support to 45 -50 students developing their reading skills. A huge thank you to the many volunteers who helped out over the summer including, Angie, Amy, Colleen, Catherine, Charitini, El, Jennifer, Janice, Jen, Karen, Marsha, Sharon, Wendy, our to dedicated staff Pat, Elodie, Elaine, Reese and Paul.

The Summer Reading Program is funded by Source Office Systems, First West Foundation, Morningside Rotary Club, and the Province of BC, and is provided in partnership with Central Okanagan Family Hub and School District 23.

Registration for the 2027 Summer Reading Program will begin next April.

Schools use PM Benchmarks to assess and track students' reading progress. They can help provide teachers with tools to measure progress in order to meet educational standards! It can help support their reading programs and interventions!
