The Case for Quality: Lessons, Legacies, and Landmines - Dr. Cheryl Ward and Jeanette Edwards:

About the Presentation: Quality and Learning are foundational to all service areas, yet there are subjective and varied understandings of quality and its dimensions. Typically organizations adopt principles which align with their vision and goals, yet fail to adequately address issues of racism, discrimination, and equity by embedding them in quality and learning. Jeanette Edwards and Cheryl Ward ask, "Why shouldn't racism, discrimination and equity be fundamental to all aspects of quality and safe service delivery?" In this session, they will explore the critical development and application of quality principles.

It’s Contest Time: Share Your Hopes for Health Care!

Want a chance at inspiring change to BC’s health care system – in under seven minutes? You could be a featured speaker and deliver a PechaKucha presentation about your hopes for health care at Health Talks, which is part of this year’s virtual Quality Forum 2021 hosted by the BC Patient Safety & Quality Council.

Health Talks is an evening event on February 25 where six speakers will share their hopes using the PechaKucha 20x20 presentation style. This means that they show 20 images for 20 seconds each while they’re talking. It's a great way for health care professionals to hear new perspectives about our health care system.

And the Council is looking for one BC student to be a part of it.

Who can enter? All BC students. Medical school, post-secondary, high school, elementary school – it’s all good! Individuals and teams (featuring a maximum of three people) are welcome.

What do we mean by "your hope for health care"? Your hope can be anything: an improvement you'd like to see in the health care system, a big vision for the future, a change in beliefs or values - it's your hope.

How do you enter? That's up to you! Submit an essay, poem, video, infographic, short story – those are just a few suggestions. Whatever format you choose, just send us your entry by January 6.

What will you win? The winner will be one of six speakers to deliver a PechaKucha presentation at Health Talks and will receive one complimentary registration to the Quality Forum.

Learn more about the virtual events and enter the student contest by January 6 at QualityForum.ca. If you want some inspiration, check out previous winners here.
