STEM student feature time! Long before he started his education at The University of British Columbia, Jerry Leung carried a fascination with how the world worked. For each solution that he came across, he had more questions about how it worked and how he could make it even better. That thinking has led him to the field of blood research and medicine beyond the microscopic level.

From Geering Up’s beginnings in 1995 as Mechanical Engineering student Christine Yeung’s capstone project, those are the values that have driven every single decision we’ve made and how we’ve grown as an organization.

That is why we’re pleased to announce that our national network partner, Actua, has presented UBC Geering Up Engineering Outreach with the Award for Excellence for our work in 2022.
