Thank you to Emil Anderson Construction and the BC Road Builders & Heavy Construction Association for inviting Okanagan College Women in Trades students to attend the 2023 BC Road Builders Fall conference in Kelowna this week. The Women in Road Building panel was impressive! Showcasing female leaders in Road Building, these hard-working women inspired the students to follow their passion in pursuing a career in skilled trades.
BC women interested in exploring hands-on skills training can contact Okanagan College to apply for this sponsored, 12 week Exploratory (no cost) program.

Women in Trades attended the Day of Mourning event at Ben Lee Park.
A moving hour as we stand humbly with those who were brave enough to share their stories of injuries and for some, grave losses.
We commit to contributing to a safe workplace for all, and providing training that prioritizes the safety of our students while encouraging them to stand up for their rights as they enter the workforce.

Wow!
Steph took our 12-week exploratory trades program for women. She moved on to do her pre-apprenticeship (foundation level) training in Collision Repair & Refinishing, graduating June 2021.
She's been in industry for less than two years, and she is crushing it! So proud of you, Steph!
Congratulations to Steph Appel on winning gold at the 2023 provincial skills for Car Painting, next stop nationals in Winnipeg

Congratulations to our January exploratory trades program for women class that finished up on Friday.
To celebrate their hard work, we cooked up a bbq and invited Milwaukee Tools to show off some cool new products. I think the instructors had as much fun as the students getting their hands on these tools!
