✔️ хто вже мав досвід заробляти власні гроші;
✔️ хто хотів би заробити і на що саме;
✔️ якими способами підлітки можуть заробляти;
✔️ як працювати в команді;
✔️ які власні навички вже можна використовувати;

September 29, 2026 — another busy and meaningful day at the Ukrainian School in Vernon!
📖 Grade 2
Our second-graders are continuing to build “The Friendship Bridge: Ukraine — Canada.” 🇺🇦🇨🇦
This time, they learned about the sound represented by the Ukrainian letter Ї and reviewed the rules connected with the letters Я, Ю, Є.
They also practiced writing on paper with wide lines and a dotted guideline — gradually getting more comfortable with handwriting. ✍️
The children especially enjoyed exercises where changing one sound or letter changes the meaning of a word. They read short poems, found and corrected mistakes — and, of course, had lots of laughs along the way. 😊
Then we learned more about books — their structure, different types, and illustrations. The children even tried creating their own books: coming up with a title, deciding who the book would be for, and imagining how it would be illustrated. 📚✨
And although the children don’t quite understand yet why they need all those “complicated and rather boring sentences” on the little blue scrolls 🤭, they do know one thing: if they remember what they’ve learned by the next lesson, they’ll be able to uncover the next stepping stone of the Friendship Bridge! 😊
🌻 Older Group
This time, we explored words borrowed from other languages.
We discovered that the word “school” comes from a Greek word associated with the idea of “free time,” while “photography” literally means “drawing with light.” 💡
Then we met the residents of the “Word” House — created a model of the house and began moving its residents in. 🏠
We also read interesting stories and memories from contemporaries of Ostap Vyshnia, Pavlo Tychyna, Mykola Kulish, and Les Kurbas.
To finish, the students received a creative assignment: to prepare a short presentation about one of the writers — one of the residents of our “Word” House. 📖
💰 Teen Group
We continued our conversation about money and ways to earn it.
We talked about:
✔️ who has already had experience earning their own money;
✔️ who would like to earn money and what they would spend it on;
✔️ different ways teenagers can earn money;
✔️ how to work as a team;
✔️ which personal skills they can already put to use;
✔️ what cost of goods/services means and why it is important to understand it.
This time, instead of a financial game, the teens chose Alias Ukraine. 🎲
The game was a great opportunity to practice explaining words so that others could understand them, quickly finding the right associations, and expanding their vocabulary.
Some of the words were new even to the teacher! 😊 So we figured them out together.
✨ Another day where the Ukrainian language came alive through games, literature, creativity, and practical skills.
