We are pleased to announce the formal establishment of the https://www.linkedin.com/company/ubcfom/ Vancouver Alumni Chapter, which took place last week in a truly remarkable event.

This gathering brought together alumni, partners, and supporters of the Faculty, all dedicated to fostering excellence in business leadership. A particularly significant aspect of the evening was our collaboration with the Management Student Association’s Vancouver Business Trip, which provided a valuable platform for alumni and current students to engage, exchange knowledge, and cultivate professional relationships.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all who attended this pivotal occasion.

For what promises to be a fascinating presentation by Dr. Darren Dahl, Dean of Sauder School of Business, join us at the next IdeaFest installation! March 6, 2026 in EME 4116!
In Why Horizontal Organizations Don’t Fall Flat: Organizational Structure Shapes Perceptions of Egalitarianism and Company Warmth, Dr. Dahl discusses why some organizational structures are easier for people to relate to, and how that relatability is closely tied to whether the organization is arranged in a tall hierarchy, or a more spread out and flat way- And how that view is tied to consumers political ideologies.

We are grateful to Dr. Russ Belk for his interesting and lively presentation based on his research on gendered violence between humans and robots. Dr. Belk also gave an exciting and thought-provoking presentation on Psychological Possessions, based on his research on how we interact with physical items as we move closer to a post-ownership world, at the Rotary Centre for the Arts. Many thanks to Dr. Belk for his insights and his time!

This was part of our Faculty’s IdeaFest series. Join us Friday March 6, in EME 4116 at 12:00 pm for our next speaker, Dr. Darren Dahl.

Over the past year, we have welcomed new colleagues, strengthened and expanded our programs, and advanced initiatives that are shaping the future of business education and research. This momentum has been driven by the collective efforts of a dedicated and engaged community.
