For Keona Gagnier, the Bachelor of Computer Information Systems' hands-on learning has been critical in securing her first post-graduation role as a Business Intelligence Analyst.
“If you are someone who wants to see results from your academic learning, the BCIS is a great program,” shared Keona Gagnier. “It isn’t focused solely on theory in the first year and you get your hands on actual programming and development really early on.
Starting in September 2026, Okanagan College is expanding our Bachelor of Computer Information Systems (BCIS) degree with three new options: Cybersecurity, Data Engineering and Artificial Intelligence, and an Honours Degree pathway.
These additions reflect what we're hearing from industry and employers: the need for graduates with specialized, in-demand skills who are ready to make an impact from day one.
For more than 20 years, our BCIS program has prepared students for successful careers in technology. Through hands-on learning, applied research and industry-connected projects, students gain practical experience solving real-world challenges while building the skills needed for the jobs of tomorrow.
We're proud that 96% of our BCIS graduates are employed, and that so many are contributing to the growth of B.C.'s technology sector and beyond.
Applications for September 2026 are now open. Learn more about the program and admission requirements at okanagancollege.ca/cis.

The Moose Hide Campaign began as a BC-born Indigenous-led grassroots movement to engage men and boys in ending violence towards women and children. It has since grown into a nationwide movement of Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians from local communities, First Nations, governments, schools, colleges/universities, police forces and many other organizations – all committed to taking action to end this violence.

What could the Okanagan look like in 2036? This week, community leaders, students and business professionals gathered at Okanagan College to explore that question together.
Hosted in partnership with MacKay CEO Forums and the Hall School of Business and Entrepreneurship, Okanagan 2036: CEOs on the Future of Our Valley sparked thoughtful conversations about the future of our region, from business growth and economic trends to community wellbeing and entrepreneurship.
