Hello friends!☺️ Looking for a low-commitment, high-impact way to give back and help drive lifesaving change?
Saving Lives with Pride is a non-profit organization that partners with LGBTQ communities to run inclusive stem cell donor recruitment campaigns at Pride celebrations across Canada. They work to break down the systemic barriers that have excluded LGBTQ people from donation, ensuring everyone is seen, respected, and welcomed as a potential donor.
They are seeking volunteers to help with their Kelowna Pride event. The Kelowna Pride event is Saturday, June 6, 2026. If you are interested, they are seeking volunteers to help make the Saving Lives with Pride Campaign a success.
They’ve already helped hundreds join the national stem cell registry and they’re just getting started. Here is their website for more info: https://savingliveswithpride.com/
Why does this matter?
Canada’s stem cell registry lacks diversity needed to serve all patients equally. By helping more LGBTQ individuals and allies join the registry, we can increase access and save more lives.
What do volunteers do?
At each Pride event, volunteers:
Talk with attendees about the importance of joining the stem cell registry
Assist with buccal swab kits either onsite or as take-home kits
Provide friendly, respectful guidance during the registration process
No experience needed. A brief Zoom training will be provided before the event.
Is this a big time commitment?
Not at all! Just one short training session and a shift during the event. It’s a simple but powerful way to support health equity!
