Have you ever had one of those days where your body just saysΒ enough?

You're exhausted β€” not tired-tired, but deep exhausted. And you end up on the couch and you can't move and you feel guilty about it.

I want you to stop feeling guilty.

I talk a lot about coping mechanisms, but I'm still on my own healing journey too. Right now I'm doing a lot of work around my nervous system β€” and here's what I'm learning: sometimes your nervous system just overrides everything and saysΒ you need rest. It's not laziness. It's not weakness. It's your body protecting you from the relentless go go go.

Honor it. Give yourself that time.

A couple weeks ago my body did exactly that. I couldn't get off the couch all day. And you know what I did? I watched both Gladiator movies. And it was a damn nice day. πŸ˜‚

Have you ever connected your nervous system to your coping mechanisms? Most people don't.

Your coping mechanisms aren't random. Your nervous system helped build them β€” as survival strategies, to get you through something hard.

The problem is, the brain doesn't automatically update its files. It keeps running the same program even after the original threat is gone. So a strategy that once protected you can end up costing you more than it gives.

The overeating. The scrolling. The numbing. The staying busy. None of these are weaknesses β€” they're patterns your nervous system built to keep you safe.

I've been sitting with something for the last couple of days.

I host a support group for family members, friends, and spouses of people living with vision loss. Wednesday night, when I walked out of that group, I felt so alive. Everyone left feeling seen, heard, and validated.

And that's exactly what I want for the women I coach.

None of that would have been possible without the work I've done on myself. I'm so grateful I took that first step on my own healing journey β€” because now I get to help other women start to understand why they do what they do.

And here's what I know: once you have that lightbulb moment and you start to realize why you do what you do β€” something shifts. You stop thinking something is wrong with you. And that changes everything. πŸ’œ

There's a voice that whispers "why me." After everything I've been through β€” and I mean everything β€” I know that voice well.

But here's what I also know: you can't live there. And you don't have to.

You don't need another book. Another podcast. Another person to tell you what to do. The strength is already in you. It's been there the whole time β€” you just needed something to push it forward.

Find that thing. The gym, the bag, the walk, the music β€” whatever gets you out of your head and back into your body. Use it. Every single week.

You survived things that would have broken most people. That's not nothing. That's everything.

It's a new week. Get up. Keep going.
