"The Art of Acquiescence" This A-word has become a little focus of exploration between a dear friend and myself. There are lovely and true beautifully spiritual concepts of "acceptance", "surrender", "equanimity", "non-attachment" ... that both she and I know and practice and teach.
This A-word appeared for her in a journey recently, and we have begun playing with it simply as another approach ... that quite clearly does not deny the flavor of resistance that is encountered with Change😝 and New Ways of Being in the World 😳.
"Loss, failure, and mistakes can be brutal, so practice The Art of Acquiescence with compassion for yourself. You shouldn’t numb yourself or become a machine. Feeling the pain is part of the process. If you don’t feel the sting, then you’re not awake. You must be awake and aware to learn from the loss—to grow from it and see new perspectives." writes Brechen MacRae regarding this Stoic concept.
What I love about it, is that it invites head-on the facing of said resistance. If surrender "isn't working" - because something prickly is asking to be seen - some "part" that does not agree, that is resisting ... we get to fully "experience" / "investigate" (somatic, self-inquiry, ta***ic, body-centered, nervous system, energetic body) ... TO FIND THE TRUTH OF OUR RESISTANCE.
Are you curious enough?
Is there resistance to curiosity that you can acquiesce to?
