Hey lovely followers!
My baby girl being almost 2 years old (already!), I am happy to announce that my drop-in, Les p'tites pousses, is officially open again!!! 🥳
Hours have changed, so I invite you to double check before messaging/booking.
I would like to also kindly remember that my service is mostly intended for homeschooling families who need a break once in a while and are looking for a safe environment to drop off their kiddos. I am NOT a full time daycare, and I am NOT a place to drop off your sick kids when they cannot attend school. Thank you for your understanding.
Kindly,
Charlotte

As a person who loves all sort of art, it is a passion I try to pass on to kids by giving them opportunities to explore different types of art on their own. For example, all sort of paint and paintbrushes are on an open shelf in our living area and they are welcome to pick it up whenever they feel like it. It doesn't matter what they make, as long as they are enjoying the process and proud of themselves.

Art is another opportunity for kids to develop new skills: it supports the development of cognitive, social-emotional and multisensory skills. As children progress, art continues to provide opportunities for brain development, mastery, self-esteem and creativity. It also stimulates the imagination and reduces stress.

My favorite book to help kids explore art is "Art Lab" by Susan Schwake. There are different versions, one being more adapted to younger kids. It's a great support!

The heat is really challenging right now but don't you worry, I have ways to keep your kiddos cool. ;)

Very grateful for my big backyard and sprinkler right now. 🥵

Stay hydrated and keep cool everyone!

It recently came to my attention that my services are too pricey for a daycare. If I cannot disagree when I look at the price for a full day daycare, I also feel the need to explain why my prices are what they are.

First of, this is NOT a regular daycare. It is a drop-in daycare for unregular short period of time, and can be a last minute thing (with a minimum of 24 hours notice). If you've read my welcoming post, you know I am not registered nor licensed. But you might not know what it involves on my side. For you, it might mean I am not qualified or my place isn't safe. For me, it means I have no help from the government and I am only allowed to care for 2 kids at the same time or a group of siblings. Furthermore, it is very unlikely I would have two clients with the same need at the same time, so what you pay me per hour is what I get, and nothing more.

I am homeschooling my kids, which means we are a very hands-on family who does a lot of activities, experiments, exploring and so on. Learning through life happens every day, every minute. Your kids will take part in it when coming to my drop-in. And since your kids would probably be the only ones with my kids and I at the time they come, they will have my full attention.

Last but not least, snacks are included. Our everyday snacks include fresh fruits, veggies, nuts and healthy crackers, homemade applesauce, cookies, bars... have you been to the grocery store lately? It's not cheap.

So yes, my services are kind of a luxury, especially in these crazy expensive times. It is not for everyone, I hear you. But do I think I am too expensive for the care I provide? Absolutely not.

This being said, I wish I could offer my services to a wider crowd. Because I believe what I offer is a true need for parents. So please, feel free to comment under this post to tell me what hourly rate you would consider as fair for what I offer?

Thanks for your support!

And by the way, the fact I am not licensed has nothing to do with safety or competence. Again, if you have read my welcoming post, you know I have worked as an ECE in the past for 2 years, as a Responsible Adult twice for 2 school years, or simply as a long term nanny numerous times. I have all the qualifications required to take care of your kids. And I am raising two amazing little human beings who I am able to keep very safe in our current house.

Somebody shared this with me yesterday because it reminded them of me. 🥰
And as I rinsed off for the hundred times my younger one yesterday as he came into the house -because he just loves to play in water and dirt- I let out a big sigh. My husband smiled and told me "That's what you wished for, wasn't it? Free spirited kids who enjoy playing in nature."
YES! That's exactly what I wish for every single kids on this planet.
Thanks for the reminder Mirjam and Adrien!!!

FAQ #3 // How does your service work?

Fairly simple.
☆ You need a few hours without your kid(s) around to accomplish something?
• Shoot me a message or book a slot via this page to see if I am available.
• Once I confirmed my availability to you, I will send you two documents (Registration Form + Liabilities and Waiver Form) to fill out. Kindly bring both forms with you on the first day of care. If you don't have a way to print the documents, plan to come a bit early to fill them out on site.
• On the day of care, bring your kid(s) up to 5 minutes before start of care. Make sure they have appropriate clothing for the current weather, spare clothing if necessary, diapers/wipes if needed, or anything else you deem relevant to bring.
• Come grab your happy kid(s) at the agreed time and go back home with only a sense of accomplishment! No guilt needed as I can assure you they will have fun!!! I'm proud to say that, so far, the kids I had in my care are reluctant to leave!

It is as easy as it sounds.

And if you would like to visit my home before agreeing on anything, I will be more than happy to meet you and your little one(s) at a convenient date and time. I know it can be stressful to leave your kid(s) with someone new for the first time and I want to make sure you feel comfortable doing so.

I am thrilled to announce that Les p'tites pousses will have extended hours as of July 4th. I will now be able to accommodate drop-ins from 8:30am to 8:30pm, weekdays and weekends (depending on availabilities)!

Need to run errands without the kids in tow? Need to attend a work meeting or a self-care appointment? Or even need a few hours to enjoy a glass of wine on a patio with friends? I've got you covered!

FAQ #2 // Is your drop-in only in French? 🇨🇵

=> No, it is not.
And if you expect your kids to learn French when attending my drop-in, you are mistaken. Your kids will definitely be exposed to French since I mostly speak French with my kids at home and we love to listen to French songs or read books in French. But I am not going to sit down and teach your kids French.
Also, not to worry, my husband and I have been living in Canada for over 10 years and the boys were born in Canada, which means we are all perfectly fluent in English. Communication won't be an issue.

• On that matter, did you know that studies show how exposure to a foreign language ignites kids' learning?
It improves their cognitive abilities (especially problem-solving), extends their phonetic awareness, accelerates their speech development, improves their listening skills and enhances future literacy. In other words, it can only be a bonus to have your kids exposed to another language!
