Both luxurious, yet affordable, our variety of yarns, accessories, tools, and kits are guaranteed to spark your creativity. Beyond our wide variety of yarns, tools, and accessories, we also specialize in teaching knitting and crochet to the community. Our classes are offered to beginners, advanced, and all in between. Classes are led by owner and fibre arts professional, Tracy Minnema. Tracy first learned how to knit and crochet at five years old. After obtaining a Fashion Merchandising Diploma, Tracy worked in the fashion industry in Toronto. Following this, Tracy graduated from Queen’s University Faculty of Education with an Education Certification in Technological Studies - Clothing and Fashion Specialization. Tracy has recently retired from teaching Clothing & Fashion courses at the secondary level in Family Studies for the past 30 years. Her experience with fibre arts and passion for teaching allow Tracy to deliver one-of-a-kind learning experiences to the community. As we are located along the Trent Severn Waterway, we are accessible by both land and water. By land, we are a 15-minute drive south of Peterborough. By water, we are a 5-minute boat ride on the Otonabee River, north of Rice Lake. We are now reopened with all necessary public health restrictions.

Koigu Wool Designs has offered hand dyed hand painted merino and natural fiber yarns to international customers since 1992. They also coordinate hand knitting patterns and designs with their yarns. We are happy to have the 2nd generation leader of Koigu Wool Designs, Taiu Landra as an instructor for our Riversong Fibre Retreat at Elmhirst's Resort in the Kawarthas, happening on November 13-15, 2026.

Attending a one day fibre festival is actually a 4 day event for me. Thursday is the day to pack up all the yarn & load the trailer. Friday we drive hours to where ever the show is happening, unload, set-up (grid walls are heavy), then drink w**e to relax in the evening with my friend Sandra😁 Saturday is the actual show all day, then packing up to head home, getting back home usually after dark. Then Sunday, (or sometimes Monday) is the day to unpack everything and put the studio back together so that I can open the studio to the public once again. It is exhausting, but so worth it. So I keep myself in shape so that I can continue to physically do this crazy business! Who knew that a yarn business would provide me with so much exercise?! See you in Kitchener on Saturday.
