This July, Iqaluit welcomed Inuit delegates from across the circumpolar North as the Inuit Circumpolar Council Canada gathered for its General Assembly, proudly wearing clothing that reflects the traditions, artistry and identities of their home regions across Inuit Nunangat.🧵

To recognize the occasion, our Ampere Iqaluit Makerspace and Skills Hub partnered with the Government of Nunavut's Fisheries and Sealing Division to host a Pop-Up Seal Products Fashion Show. We displayed numerous handcrafted seal skin parkas crafted by talented artisans from across Nunavut, transforming the Makerspace into a gallery of Inuit craftsmanship.

Everything we do at Ampere links back to STEAM. The artistry is obvious, but each garment also reflects generations of engineering and technological innovation, designed to withstand incredibly harsh climates.

For Inuit, seal is far more than just a material — it provides food, warmth, light and connection to the land, woven into culture, knowledge and identity.

Bathurst's Journées Hospitalité Bathurst Hospitality Days festival was a total blast, and we were so happy to be a part of it!

From knot-tying with RCSCC 275 Chaleur, to digital scrapbooking, to painting 3D-printed figurines with Layers 3D Print Studio, workshops at the Ampere Bathurst Makerspace & Skills Hub brought curious minds of all ages through the door all week long.

A big thank you to our community partners for bringing their expertise (and an underwater vehicle 👀) to make this happen. We can't wait to see you next year!

Our hearts are with the rural, remote, and Indigenous communities impacted by ongoing wildfires in Ontario.

As support needs become clearer in the coming days, we will provide some updates on how you can help. If you’d like to donate items but don’t know where to drop them, Ampere will be providing a donation bin at our second annual STEAM Fest on Aug 22nd on Lindsay, ON.
