We extended the interest in tie dyeing by repurposing and refilling the sq**rt bottles with water colour paint. The children loved having full access to the bottles this time around! They squeezed them and mixed the colours using paper towel as the “canvas”.

While outside this morning, we noticed this beautiful moth. Unfortunately it was no longer alive, however, we used the opportunity to observe and examine it… likening it to the transformation our catterpillar will be making soon!

WOW! Both classes did a truly wonderful job while dyeing their shirts this week!
The children made creative decisions about colours and design, and even observed how the primary colours can overlap to make secondary colours. They exhibited great fine motor work even with the obstacle of the plastic gloves! 🙌
We can’t wait to see how they turn out! 💖

Water colour painting outside… we tried making marks using some of the fallen maple keys. 🙂🎨

At the end of May, we enjoyed field trips to Valleyview Animal Farm. Thank you to all of the parents and grandparents who joined us! It’s so much fun when we’re all together!

Our “painted lady” caterpillars arrived and we have created a space for them in the classroom. Some of the children observed that they are hairy and small and might be a family because one is much smaller than the others. They enjoyed seeing them crawl around inside the cup. 🙂

This week we have been “Making juice” at the water table, enjoying picnic days outside, threading dandelions and fine-tuning our skills at blowing enormous bubbles! The string wands are loads of fun to experiment with! 🫧

Throughout the morning, we made “wild violet lemonade!”
The children washed their hands and each had a turn to squeeze a lemon. It took a surprising amount of strength to extract the juice! They made predictions about what colour the wild Violets would turn the lemonade.
