For now, this is to get you excited and prepped as it's a quick turnover: starts tomorrow and ends Oct 19th... just in time to amp up for the Halloween dance ;)

🍎 Happy World Teachers’ Day! 💜

Today we get to celebrate some of the very best people in our little community — our incredible Rayleigh Elementary teachers.

Our teachers do so much more than teach.

They encourage. They listen. They cheer our kids on. They notice when someone needs a little extra support, celebrate the wins (big and small!), create spaces where our kids feel like they belong, and somehow keep showing up with patience, creativity and care day after day.

We know how lucky we are at Rayleigh. 💜

To our teachers: thank you for everything you pour into our kids and our school. Thank you for helping them learn, grow, laugh, try again, be brave and become good humans.

We may be a little biased… but we’re pretty sure Rayleigh Elementary has the best teachers out there. 😉

Happy World Teachers’ Day from your Rayleigh PAC!

It takes a community. 💜

PSA: HOT LUNCH INFO | a bit late but 👀

Did you know…

Hot Lunch is NOT a Fundraiser
-> We negotiate lunch rates every year with our vendors, add the tax (and delivery on the 2 that charge it) and that is your price.

The Hot Lunch Program is Volunteer Run
-> The hours put in to negotiating, programming, applying your e-transfers, answering your emails, picking up food where we can, organizing lunches at the school, cleaning up and reporting? 100% volunteers, led by the amazing Kara (and Tori for the month of October) ✨

The In House Hot Lunch is also Volunteer Run!
-> Planning, grocery shopping, prep, cooking, clean up and reporting? You guessed it! Amazing volunteers, lead this year by our friend Katie 💫

This PAC, like the PACs that came before us, is committed to keeping lunches affordable and healthy for our kiddos 😊 We will not be adding surcharges to meals for as long as we are here - it’s our commitment to you!

Massive thanks to getting the negotiations done, the program all plugged in and letter sent out Kara! And huge thanks to Tori and Katie for stepping into huge roles this year as well - you three and your future volunteers are the for sure!

Interested in volunteering and miss the sign up on the hot lunch sign up? Comment here or message us and we’ll get you connected 😊

**Pic because like many of you, your PAC Exec is made of parents doing the after school activity push 😜

FUNDRAISER ALERT -> Today in your child's things you'll find an order form for a local coupon book [sneak peek picture for what's inside].

What do fundraisers pay for??

- Field trips [lowering or eliminating costs to families]
- Bussing for sports, field trips & events
- Class, library and gym improvements [new basketball backboards will be going in this year]
- Technology upgrades
- Project funding
- Teacher appreciation luncheon
- & so much more!

What do I have to do??

- We ask that you send out a picture / post the image below / tell your family... hopefully together we will raise some money for the school, support local businesses and have fun!
- If you choose not to participate, simply recycle the page

How do you decide which fundraisers to do??

Your PAC is limiting the fundraisers this year to the ones that make sense! Here are the points we consider before signing up:
- Will the school will make no less than 40% of what is sold?
- Is the product supporting local [Rayleigh/Kamloops/BC/Canadian] businesses?

What's next?
In October we have a Colibri Canada fundraiser planned (reusable snack and lunch containers). As always, the school will make over 40% of what is sold back, the products are made in Canada, and they are great quality that will last.
-> Fundraisers will be on our Google Calendar as they're approved so you'll always know what's coming up!

Thanks for reading - now you know it all!

This week Friday is the Rayleigh Elementary School Terry Fox Run :) Our kids are encouraged to donate change to the Terry Fox Fundraiser in levels:

Today - nickels & dimes
Wednesday - quarters
Thursday - loonies
Friday - toonies

Last year the school raised just over $1000 - one of the largest donations we've made - and that's the goal again this year. Check out the thermostat inside the school on the bulletin board to see how we're doing!

Here's a local story about the Kamloops run if you'd like to share it with your kids at all:

KAMLOOPS - Organizers of the annual Terry Fox Run are still tallying the totals, but say they are well on thei...

Did you know that our Lost & Found gets donated at the end of the school year?

That’s pretty soon!

Head on in to the school and see what may belong to you!
