📣 Big news at Lee's Music School! 📣

Rob Landers joined our teaching team, and we couldn't be more stoked! 🥁

Rob started taking drum lessons when he was eight years old and started playing in a youth rock band when was 10. He has since played with numerous bands of all genres over the years as a drummer, singer/songwriter, guitarist, bassist and trumpet player.

He also studied theatre, philosophy of rock music and music theory at T.R.U. and was a drum instructor at Long and McQuade in Kamloops in 2007 before moving to Vancouver.

Rhythmic theory, drum sheet music, rudiments, stick control and double kick pedal are foundational skills that Rob teaches but in addition, he plays guitar and bass with his students. This jamming/rehearsal session near the end of a drum lesson is fun and enriching for Rob’s students and teaches them how to play in a band. Incorporating a bit of rock history, studying famous influential drummers and their different unique styles and approach to drumming, Landers believes this helps a drummer find their own unique “vocabulary”.

Finally, Rob can learn students favourite cover songs (depending on difficulty) but tries to encourage students to write their own original compositions with him to showcase their own skills.

Whether you're picking up the sticks for the first time or looking to level up your playing, Rob's got the experience and passion to help you get there.
