Kakabeka School’s barbecue today was a huge success! It was wonderful to see members of our school community coming together to enjoy a meal, connect, and have fun. A big thank you to Parent Council for organizing and running this fantastic event. Your hard work and dedication helped make it such a memorable day for everyone!

Our Family BBQ is tonight from 5-7 pm!😎 Orders were pre-placed on school cash. We do have a small number of extra hot dogs and burgers if you forgot to order and want to stop in... first come, first serve. Soft drinks and freezies will be for sale for $1.

Please remember that this is a family event. Students must be directly supervised by a parent/guardian. We look forward to seeing everyone tonight!

🏅🥉 BRONZE MEDAL WINNERS! 🥉🏅
The Kakabeka Falls Public School community is incredibly proud to congratulate Grade 8 students Aby Nelson and Avery Kydd on their outstanding success at the Canada-Wide Science Fair!
Aby and Avery earned a Bronze Medal for their innovative project, Seed Oil Biofuel, competing against some of the brightest young scientists from across the country. Their hard work, creativity, dedication, and passion for scientific inquiry have led to an incredible achievement on the national stage.
As if bringing home a national medal wasn't enough, both students were also awarded:
🎓 A $1,500 entrance scholarship to the University of Alberta
🎓 A $1,000 entrance scholarship to Western Science
These awards are a testament to the countless hours of research, experimentation, and perseverance they invested in their project.
We are so proud to celebrate this remarkable accomplishment and the positive way Aby and Avery have represented our school, our community, and Northwestern Ontario. They have inspired us all through their commitment to learning and innovation.
Congratulations, Aby and Avery! Your Kakabeka Falls school family is cheering you on and can't wait to see what you accomplish next! 👏🎉🔬

Mrs. Dillon’s Grade 6/7 class welcomed Kyle and Justin from Let’s Talk Science today! Students learned all about the Mars rover and even took on a challenge to create their own rover designs to drop from the playground. We are happy to report that all rovers successfully made their landing! 🚀

What an exciting few weeks in Kindergarten! 🐣🦆

Ms. Warren and Ms. McBain’s class spent 28 days carefully observing and candling duck eggs before successfully hatching 8 adorable ducklings! The students were thrilled to welcome Pickles, Popcorn, Daisy, Dottie, Walter, Flappy, Donald, and King into their classroom while learning all about the duck life cycle and growth process.

At the same time, Ms. Siemieniuk and Mrs. Randle’s class worked hard caring for and hatching chicks of their own! Their class also celebrated the arrival of 8 chicks: Chicky, Gary, Pikachu, Pip, Chocly, Buttercup, Charzard, and Princess Leia while exploring the fascinating life cycle of chickens.

Students have loved comparing the similarities and differences between the ducklings and chicks.
