The forest doesn't ask what you do. It doesn't care about your title, your revenue, or your strategic plan. It just asks you to show up and pay attention.
That's what we built Creative Rest for — a small, intentional weekend at BlackHouse: guided forest therapy, open creative time, long afternoons by the pool, and the kind of unhurried rest your nervous system has been asking for.
July 24–26. A few spots are left for this weekend - come rediscover your creative energy.

Creative rest isn’t a luxury — it’s a necessity.
It’s the kind of rest that happens when you stop producing and simply receive. When beauty fills you back up. When nature does the talking and you finally get quiet enough to listen.
Dr. Sandra Dalton-Smith identified creative rest as one of the seven types of rest we all need — and it’s the one most of us overlook. It’s restored not by sleep, but by exposure to beauty. A forest path. The sound of moving water. A meal made with intention. A sky you actually stopped to look at.
Nature is one of the most powerful sources of creative rest because it asks nothing of you. It doesn’t need you to perform, produce, or respond. It simply exists — and in that existence, it quietly restores something in you that busyness depletes.
If you’re a creative, a caregiver, a leader, or someone who gives a lot of yourself — you know the feeling of running on empty. Not tired in your body, but hollow somewhere deeper. That’s a creative deficit.
At Wild Nature Retreats, we designed the Creative Rest weekend for exactly this. Three days at BlackHouse on the Nottawasaga River — forest walks, cedar sauna, salt water pool, nourishing food, and wide open space — so your imagination has somewhere to land.
This is for the person who can’t remember the last time they felt genuinely inspired. Who needs more than a day off. Who is ready to come back to themselves.
