I’ve been thinking a lot about rushing lately and, more specifically, about how I’d like to stop rushing so much in many areas of my life - like running my business.

**Because, when we rush - we miss out on the EXPERIENCE of getting there.**

Relating this to my yoga practice can offer some insight.

The beauty of practicing yoga - and perhaps why I’ve stayed with it so consistently for nearly 15 years is that there is never an endpoint at which I can say, *“I’m good, I get it, I have mastered the yoga”*

According to Patanjali, the ultimate goal of yoga “samadhi” is only reached when we die.

And… this happens only after you’ve dedicated yourself to practice while you’re living.

Ta***ic philosophy offers the possibility of enlightenment while living through experiencing yourself as one with the Divine that resides in all things.

**Either way - I don’t expect to experience enlightenment (or the “goal of yoga) in this lifetime and I’m okay with that.**

Yoga, for me, is a practice. It’s without a goal. Instead, it’s about refinement and repetition.

And - it’s not fast.

Yoga is SLOW.

It’s in the body and our bodies change SLOWLY.

**The way to experience the benefits of the practice (and there are many) is through a dedication to practicing over a long period of time.**

This is about consistency and dedication.

And none of that implies rushing.

So… let’s slow down… take things slow and enjoy the simple pleasures.

One of the easiest decisions I have ever made was to apply for the VITA coaching certification program.

I had just finished teaching my first ever 200-hour yoga teacher training and was just recovering from some pretty serious burnout.

Thank goodness in the midst of that burnout, I discovered Layla’s teachings and her Jade Egg course. This course changed EVERYTHING for me. I learned how to replenish my energy, ground myself, and take time to rest and immerse myself in pleasurable things.

Have you ever heard someone say, “I’m too masculine & I need to embrace my feminine energy more”?

Have you heard it in the context of running a business?

What do you think it means?

I used to buy into this idea fully. I believed that any kind of strategy, effort, & stress (positive or negative) in my business would take me “too much out of my feminine” energy and I would become hardened and unreceptive to abundance.

Polarity work is WILD that way.

First, because the language of polarity is steeped in gender essentialism and a limited idea of what it means to be a man or a woman.

Second, it causes us to feel shame when we aren’t aligning with the behaviours that “match” our gender identity.

Yes, things exist on poles - but they also exist BETWEEN the poles.

Tying our energetic vibe to gender is just weird.

We need to rethink polarity work so much that we stop using the words masculine & feminine when we are describing how we do work in our business.

What if we used strategy + whimsy while describing the energy around our work instead? (without tying either word to any gender)

BOTH are important and BOTH can be valued equally.

This is how we create work that FEELS good to do.

Because it’s crystal CLEAR where we’re going AND we get to artfully express ourselves along the way.

I’m teaching a workshop tomorrow about how to effectively talk about your wellness, yoga, life coaching & spiritual work in a way that lands with the right audience for you. I’ll share why whimsy is essential but is ineffective without a solid messaging strategy.

I often catch myself wanting to rush things.

Rush the day.

Rush eating.

Rush projects.

Rush success.

Rush pleasure.

But… what’s behind the rushing? The desire to get there faster?

What’s so uncomfortable that I want to get through it quickly?

It’s a practice to slow down, tune in, take my time, and let things unfold without pushing or forcing.

That’s the essence of inviting pleasure.

Today, I’m reminding myself… and you as well, that it’s okay if things take time. In fact - let's revel in that fact because life is too sweet not to savour every last bite.

Have you ever said “yes” to something without even thinking about HOW you’re going to do it?

Maybe it’s an ADHD thing, but this is very much the story of my entire career! I TRUST my gut and say “yes” when I see an opportunity that excites me.

The details can always be figured out later, right?

When I first heard about Layla’s VITA coaching program - I didn’t even hesitate for a second, I KNEW this is what I wanted to do and I applied immediately even though I didn’t really have a plan for how I was going to pay for it.

I used to think that I had to pick just one thing to do with my life.
