A couple of weeks ago, I hosted a Coastal Ease Yoga Holiday right here in Hubbards. The 15 participants came from BC, the USA, and Scotland; a couple of folks came from just down the road. The four-day weekend was a HUGE success thanks to the beautiful and professional people who call this place home.
I want to take a moment to publicly thank, and wholeheartedly recommend, the local people and businesses who helped make Coastal Ease such a wonderful experience.
Kate and the staff at the Anchorage House & Cottages welcomed us into their charming space for four days of meals, games, conversation and relaxation. There was plenty of room for everyone to gather around the table, play charades, soak in the hot tub and enjoy each other’s company. There are also quiet spaces for a little privacy when needed. It was the perfect home base.
Alisha and April of The Savary Plate Creative Catering were amazing to work with. I created a menu for all four days, and they turned it into magic. The food was delicious, beautifully prepared and memorable. April’s Maritime Cooking Class was a particular highlight, including the delicious lemonade made by her sister Katie (of Loco Lemonade)!
Produce and products from Tyler at Food People and DK FAIRN Farms Centreville provided everyone with healthy, hearty breakfasts to start their days.
Tom at Scotia Cycle hooked us up with excellent bikes for our afternoon ride, and guaranteed everyone was ready to explore the rails-to-trails.
Sarah Mian joined us to share her experiences of writing When the Saints, giving our group a fascinating glimpse into the creative process and the story behind the book.
Heidi Wambolt, RMT, kicked off our weekend with a restorative yoga class. A very yummy way to begin!
And thank you to Karen at the Hubbards Sailing Club and Cathy at the Sail Loft Yoga for making sure we had beautiful spaces to practise yoga, with Nova Scotian ocean vistas that are beyond compare.
A big thank you goes out to the people of Hubbards.
💛
Throughout the weekend, our guests headed out for walks and encountered the kind of hospitality that you can’t book or put on an itinerary. People invited them into their homes, offered them rides, stopped to say hello and welcomed them to our little corner of the world.
That, to me, is what made Coastal Ease truly special.
I could organize the yoga, the bikes, the meals and the activities, but I couldn't manufacture the warmth, generosity and sense of community that our guests experienced here.
Thank you to everyone who helped me show 15 people from near and far a little bit of what makes Hubbards such a wonderful place to call home.
