Applications were originally provided in June, so we have extended the deadline to give students a bit more time to apply and ensure they don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity!

Day 9

Today we said goodbye to Paris and began our long journey home! We flew from Paris to Toronto, and then from Toronto to Edmonton. It was a long day of travel filled with laughter, shared memories, countless filtered pictures of Wagner, and plenty of silliness along the way.

As we return home to Maskwacîs, our students bring back not only incredible memories but also a wealth of knowledge and experiences to share with their community. We are so proud of everything they accomplished throughout this journey.

This trip would not have been possible without the incredible support of our community. Thank you to everyone who contributed through our many fundraisers, band funding, and the generous support of parents and families.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to our dedicated chaperones—Zander, Tasha, Jennifer, and Natalie—who spent the past year helping students prepare for this adventure by assisting with travel documents, canteen sales, payment tracking, travel education, and so much more.

A very special thank you to Jed Wagner for organizing this unforgettable experience and for being the jack of all trades who kept everything running smoothly from start to finish. Your dedication, leadership, and countless hours of work made this trip a reality.

Thank you again to everyone who helped make this incredible experience possible. We wish you all a safe, relaxing, and wonderful summer!

Day 8

We spent our final day in Paris exploring the neighborhood of Montmartre. Students enjoyed seeing the stunning Sacré-Cœur Basilica and browsing the local shops before stopping at some local café for lunch.

Next, we took the metro to the Louvre Museum. Students explored the incredible galleries and, of course, made sure to see the iconic Mona Lisa! The museum’s size and impressive collection left everyone amazed.

In the evening, we walked to Café Fleurs for a wonderful dinner before ending our adventure with a memorable Seine River cruise, taking in breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower at night.

It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable trip filled with incredible experiences, new friendships, and lifelong memories!

Day 7

Today we started the day by taking the metro to Opéra Station, where we met our bus and local guide for a sightseeing tour of Paris. Along the way, we saw some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the Opéra House, the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs-Élysées, Les Invalides, and the Eiffel Tower.

After our city tour, we traveled to Versailles for a guided visit of the Château de Versailles. Once the tour concluded, students had time to explore the Gardens of Versailles and enjoy the stunning grounds.

In the evening, we returned to Paris and took the metro to the Latin Quarter, where we enjoyed a traditional French meal together. It was an extremely hot day, so everyone was happy to head back to the hotel afterward to cool off in the air conditioning and get some well-deserved rest.

Day 6

We woke up very early today to catch the Eurostar train through the English Channel! We took the 2½-hour ride from London to Paris.

Once we arrived in Paris, we took a bus from the train station to our hotel and enjoyed lunch in the hotel and the surrounding area. Afterward, we hopped on the metro and headed into the city centre for some sightseeing, followed by a tour of the Fragonard Perfume Museum.

The students enjoyed learning about the art of perfume-making and had the opportunity to purchase perfumes that are exclusive to Paris! Unfortunately, Maskwa (our mascot) had a little accident and had to bandage his nose. Since he couldn’t smell any of the perfumes at the museum, he settled for enjoying a refreshing drink outside instead!

Later, we took the metro to La Flamme Châtelet for dinner, where we enjoyed traditional flammekueche (tarte flambée). The students loved both the delicious food and the atmosphere of the 800-year-old building.

We then returned to our hotel by metro and wrapped up the evening by doing some laundry, getting refreshed and ready for another hot day tomorrow!

Day 5: Today we explored everything London has to offer! We travelled by coach from our hotel in Croydon into the city centre, taking in many of London’s most famous landmarks along the way, including Big Ben, the Tower of London, and St. Paul’s Cathedral. We then visited Borough Market, where we enjoyed a delicious lunch and sampled a variety of local food. After lunch, we travelled to Trafalgar Square and visited the National Gallery, followed by a short walk through the surrounding area. In the evening, we sat down to a traditional fish and chips dinner at the Prince of Wales Restaurant before ending the day with an incredible performance of Wicked in London’s West End!

Day 4: Today we set off from our hotel in Crewe and made our way to Stratford-upon-Avon, where we visited the charming Anne Hathaway’s Cottage. The beautiful cottage and gardens offered a wonderful glimpse into the history of Shakespeare’s family and life.

Afterward, we enjoyed a delicious lunch at the The Windmill Inn. The students enjoyed a classic British meal of sausage and mash served with a Yorkshire pudding.

We then spent some time exploring the historic town, including a visit to Holy Trinity Church, the final resting place of William Shakespeare. Walking through the church and grounds was a special experience, given its connection to one of the world’s most famous writers.

The afternoon was spent wandering through Stratford’s shops and streets. A heatwave had settled over the area, making it one of the hottest days of our trip so far. We quickly became experts at identifying which shops had the best air conditioning, providing welcome relief from the intense heat.

Day 3: Today we took a ferry from Ireland to Wales. The students enjoyed the fresh ocean air and were excited to spot dolphins swimming alongside the ferry, as well as countless jellyfish drifting through the water.

Once in Wales, we enjoyed a scenic drive to the town of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, famous for having the second-longest town name in the world. After taking in this unique destination, we continued on to Snowdonia National Park. There, we explored the town, enjoyed the beautiful scenery, and stopped by a river to cool off and relax.

We finished the day with a drive to the town of Crewe, where we rested for the night and prepared for our exciting trip to London tomorrow!

Day 2: The MCHS Travel Club was packed with history, culture, and unforgettable experiences!

We started the day with a bus tour of Dublin, making stops at Phoenix Park to see the Wellington Monument, the Papal Cross, and the beautiful Gardens of Remembrance. We also visited the Children of Lir sculpture and learned more about Ireland’s rich history and legends.

Next, we explored the stunning St. Patrick’s Cathedral before heading to Trinity College for the incredible Book of Kells Experience. Seeing one of Ireland’s greatest treasures up close was truly amazing!

The afternoon took us back in time at Dublinia, where we discovered Dublin’s Viking heritage, followed by some free time to explore and shop at George’s Street Arcade.

We wrapped up an incredible day at the Belvedere Hotel for the Belvedere Irish Night. A delicious dinner, traditional Irish music, energetic dancing, and a fantastic show made for the perfect ending to a memorable day in Dublin.
