🚒❤️ THANK YOU, BOYS CAMP WEEK! ❤️🚒

As we wrap up our first-ever Boys Week at Maritime Ignite Fire Academy Inc., we want to thank everyone who supported and took part in making this week such a success.

Nothing could have truly prepared us for taking in 13 boys and spending the week teaching them the ins and outs of the fire service! 😂 But honestly, these boys were phenomenal. They stepped outside their comfort zones, got their hands dirty, asked questions, worked together, and gave their absolute best.

Despite the struggles, the heat, the rain, the sore muscles, and the grief that came later in the week, these boys kept showing up and giving everything they had.

To our 13 boys… thank you. ❤️ Thank you for trusting us, challenging yourselves, listening, learning, and making this week one we will never forget. We are incredibly proud of every single one of you.

And with that, we officially close the books on Maritime Ignite Fire Academy Inc.’s 2026 inaugural year! 🔥

Over the past two weeks, we welcomed 22 incredible youth through the doors of the arena. Every single one was there because they wanted to be—they wanted to learn about the fire service, challenge themselves, and discover what they were capable of.

We are so excited to see where these young people end up, even if it is not within the fire service. We hope they carry the confidence, teamwork, resilience, communication, and determination they built over these two weeks wherever life takes them.
To every sponsor, community partner, volunteer, instructor, fire department, organization, family member, and supporter who had even the slightest hand in making this possible—THANK YOU.

The blood, sweat, tears, late nights, early mornings, stress, and hard work that went into these past two weeks were absolutely worth it.

We did it! ❤️🔥

Here’s to Summer 2027! 🚒 Keep an eye out for our next camp dates… because Maritime Ignite is just getting started!

DAY FIVE IS IN THE BOOKS! 🚒🔥🩹

Today, our Maritime Ignite Fire Academy campers started their First Aid & CPR course! ❤️🚑

At just 14–18 years old, these skills are already incredibly important. You never know when you may be the person who needs to step up and help in an emergency. Knowing how to recognize a medical emergency, provide first aid, and perform CPR can truly make a difference—and potentially save a life.

For our future firefighters and emergency responders, these skills are a vital part of the journey. We are so proud to see our campers learning, asking questions, and gaining the confidence to take action when it matters most! 💪🚒

And because no day at Maritime Ignite would be complete without a little fun... 😏

We finished the day by playing Hide and Seek on Air! 🔥🤣

That’s right—our campers got to experience the challenge of wearing an SCBA again while putting their teamwork and search skills to the test. Let’s just say it was a whole new kind of hide and seek! 😂🚒

Thank you so much for coming back again this week for the male camp week! The boys had a blast!

🚒🔥 DAY FOUR OF BOYS CAMP! 🔥🚒

Today was another full day of learning, hands-on training, teamwork, and a whole lot of determination! 👨‍🚒💪

This morning, the boys welcomed DNR, where they learned about structural protection and setting up sprinkler systems during wildland fires. They also received a crash course on the FireSmart program and the importance of preparing homes and communities to reduce wildfire risks.

And of course, we couldn’t forget the return of the Melon Roll Hose Challenge! 🍉🔥 The competition and teamwork were definitely in full force!

This afternoon, the boys took their Stop the Bleed course with Tri-County Ground Search and Rescue. They learned valuable emergency skills, got to see the drone in action, explored inside the Command Post, and put their teamwork to the test during patient extrication.

We finished off the day with a game of hide-and-seek on air! Using walkie-talkies to communicate, the boys got a taste of how communication changes when you’re wearing a mask and breathing apparatus.

But… it wouldn’t be boys camp without someone getting hurt! 😂 Even those who weren’t feeling their best today showed just how much determination these young men have. They are absolute powerhouses! Tired, sore, and stubborn as ever, they pushed through and gave the day everything they had. 💪

🎉 And to top it all off, we got to celebrate a birthday! 🎂

Tomorrow brings First Aid/CPR Thursday, and we can’t wait to see what our boys accomplish next!

🚒🔥 DAY THREE WITH THE BOYS! 🔥🚒

Well… today we could definitely tell they were a little more tired and a LOT more sore than they expected! 😂💪 But that didn’t stop them from showing up, having fun, and giving it everything they had!

Today was all about hose advancement and ladders! The boys learned tips and tricks for handling a charged hose, advancing it effectively, and working together as a crew. They also learned how to safely handle, deploy, and work with ladders.

Whether these boys have previous experience as Junior Firefighters or this is the first week they’ve ever touched fire equipment, they are putting everything they’ve got into this camp. They’re asking questions, getting hands-on, and soaking up every ounce of training they can! 👨‍🚒🔥

🌟 SPECIAL GUEST – BRAD DOUCETTE 🌟
We were also honoured to welcome Brad Doucette, Director of Protective Services for the Town of Salisbury, who spoke with the boys about what it truly means to be a firefighter.

Brad discussed the responsibility that comes with wearing the uniform and how the public views you once you’re recognized as part of the emergency services. The boys had plenty of great questions and made sure they paid close attention to the conversation.

🐕‍🦺🔥 AND MAUREEN WAS BACK! 🔥🐕‍🦺
Brian Brown joined us again with our special four-legged guest, Maureen, who once again showed everyone just how incredible her little nose is!
In fact, Maureen was able to pick up the scent of gas on the boys’ shoes from previous days! 😳🐾 Talk about putting those sniffing skills to work!

Another full day of learning, teamwork, laughs, and pushing their limits is in the books.

These boys are tired, sore, and still asking for more — and we couldn’t be prouder!

🔥 Let’s see what DAY FOUR brings! 🔥

🚒🔥 DAY TWO OF BOYS CAMP IS IN THE BOOKS! 🔥🚒

Today was all about getting hands-on and putting these guys to the test! 💪👨‍🚒

Our participants tackled auto extrication, forcible entry, and search and rescue, with challenges designed to push them both physically and mentally.

They had to work together, communicate, brainstorm, come out of their comfort zone, and adapt when things didn’t go according to plan. And when a challenge seemed impossible? They found a way to make it happen. 💪🔥

And let’s be honest… boys being boys, they absolutely LOVED getting to destroy some vehicles! 😂🚗💥 They were eager to get their hands on the tools and weren’t afraid to get right into the action.

We also had a little unexpected training today… because apparently our canopies decided they wanted to join the adventure! 🌬️😂 Even with them pinned to the ground, we had some tent chasers on our hands as they took flight across the road!

But through all the excitement, our participants learned some very important lessons about safety, teamwork, and why the fire service has such strict procedures and standards.

They also learned one of the most rewarding parts of this job: doing something you didn’t think you were capable of doing — and realizing you absolutely can. ❤️

Day two challenged them, pushed them, and gave them plenty to talk about!

🔥 Bring on DAY THREE! 🔥

🚒🔥 WEEK TWO IS OFFICIALLY UNDERWAY! 🔥🚒

Today marked the start of Week 2 of Maritime Ignite Fire Academy Inc., and we were excited to welcome 13 young men who are ready and eager to learn all about the fire service! 👨‍🚒

Today was a little slower-paced as we got everyone settled in and ready for what is sure to be an action-packed week ahead. The group spent time getting to know one another, talking, and building those first connections that will be so important throughout the week.

They also got their first taste of some hands-on learning with:
🛠️ Tool Fundamentals
🧑‍🚒 Hazmat Suits
🔥 Fire Prevention Education
🧯 Fire Extinguisher Training

We were also fortunate to have a Fire Prevention Officer join us for a wonderful and informative presentation, followed by the opportunity for our participants to put their knowledge into action and test their skills with fire extinguishers!

Day One was all about getting comfortable, getting to know the team, and preparing for what lies ahead.
Now let’s hope they get a good night’s rest tonight… because they have a BIG week ahead of them! 😴🔥

We can’t wait to see what these young men accomplish over the next few days!

🔥 That’s a wrap on Week One of Maritime Ignite Fire Academy! 🔥

What a week it has been! As we officially wrap up our first-ever camp week, we want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this incredible milestone possible. ❤️‍🔥

We truly could not have done this without the incredible support of our families, participants, volunteers, sponsors, and community partners. Every contribution, whether big or small, helped us bring this vision to life and create a week these girls will hopefully remember for years to come.

To our participants — WOW. 👏🔥
These girls showed determination, persistence, courage, teamwork, and a willingness to try absolutely anything that was thrown their way. They stepped outside their comfort zones, challenged themselves, supported one another, and proved time and time again that they were capable of far more than they may have realized.

We wrapped up our first week with our Recognition Ceremony, and there was absolutely no question who the highlight of the day was — OUR GIRLS! ❤️‍🔥🚒 We could not be more proud of each and every one of them and everything they accomplished throughout the week.

A special thank you to Mayor of Fundy Albert, Jim Campbell, and Platoon Chief of Moncton Fire, Brad Calhoun, for taking the time this afternoon to speak with our girls. Your words, experiences, and encouragement were greatly appreciated and truly inspiring. Thank you for helping us give these young women another perspective on leadership, public service, and the emergency services.

And to everyone who volunteered their time, donated resources, sponsored our program, opened their doors, shared their knowledge, or simply cheered us on — THANK YOU. This camp is bigger than any one person. It truly takes a community, and this community showed up for us in a BIG way. ❤️

Now… after a week of memories, learning, laughter, challenges, a few early mornings and A LOT of fire service excitement… we are officially reset, recharged, and almost ready to go! 🔥

Tomorrow morning, we welcome our first group of guys for Week Two!

Let’s do this. 🚒🔥

🚒🔥 ANOTHER INCREDIBLE DAY AT MARITIME IGNITE! 🔥🚒

Today was another day filled with learning, hands-on experiences, and opportunities to see just how many different sides there are to emergency services!

🌲🔥 A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES!
This morning, our girls had the opportunity to learn about the importance of FireSmart principles and structural protection during wildfires.
This experience gave our participants the chance to see a different side of emergency response and understand how preparation, prevention, and protecting structures can make a difference when wildfires threaten our communities.

🚑🩸 ALSO A HUGE THANK YOU TO TRI-COUNTY GROUND SEARCH AND RESCUE
This afternoon, the girls took on a course called Stop the Bleed, where they learned essential skills including how to apply pressure to a wound and properly use a tourniquet.
They also got to experience patient extrication in the woods, explore the Command Post, and see a drone in action! 🚁
These experiences continue to show our participants that the emergency services are about so much more than firefighting. There are so many different roles, skills, and opportunities available to them.

📺❤️ AND THEN… CTV CAME TO VISIT!
The girls had the opportunity to be part of a very special experience today when CTV came out to interview us about Maritime Ignite Fire Academy — and even interviewed some of our participants!
We are incredibly proud of these young women for stepping up, sharing their experiences, and representing Maritime Ignite.

Every day, these girls are learning, growing, challenging themselves, and discovering what they’re capable of.
A huge thank you to everyone who continues to invest their time, knowledge, equipment, and support into these young women. We couldn’t do this without you! ❤️🚒

🚒🔥 DAY THREE AT MARITIME IGNITE FIRE ACADEMY! 🔥🚒

Today was all about one very important word in the fire service: ADAPT! 👩‍🚒

Our morning schedule didn’t quite go as planned. We were supposed to work on Hose Advancement and Ladders, but plans changed, and our girls jumped right into Hose Deployment and RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) instead.
And honestly? That’s firefighting! Things rarely go exactly as planned. Conditions change, situations evolve, and firefighters need to think on their feet and adapt. Today, our girls proved they can do exactly that — even while working through a heavy downpour! 🌧️💪

🌟 SPECIAL GUEST – KATE JAMIESON 🌟
We were honoured to welcome Kate Jamieson, a retired member of the Military and Board Member of Fire Service Women Ontario (FSWO). Kate inspired our girls to pursue whatever they put their minds to and reminded them never to let anyone tell them they can’t do something simply because they are female. ❤️

🐕‍🦺🔥 MEET MAUREEN! 🔥🐕‍🦺
We also welcomed a very special four-legged guest! Maureen, along with her handler Brian Brown from the Office of the Fire Marshal, demonstrated how she detects fire initiation points during fire investigations.
And let’s just say… Maureen is REALLY good at her job! 🐾👏

Between adapting to changing plans, hands-on training, an inspiring guest speaker, and an incredible demonstration from Maureen, today was packed with learning and unforgettable experiences.
To say Day Three was a hit would be an understatement! 🔥❤️

Let’s see what DAY FOUR brings! 🚒
