On Tuesday students had the opportunity to learn “from land to table” with James Willier. Students helped prepare and share a meal of salmon, wild rice, veggies, and strawberries while learning about the importance of traditional foods, connection, and community.

Thank you, James, for sharing your knowledge, teachings, and time with us. These experiences are meaningful and remind us of the value of gathering, learning, and sharing together.

Yesterday, May 18, marked 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐃𝐚𝐲, celebrated as part of National Speech and Hearing Month. Throughout the month, High Prairie School Division has been recognizing and celebrating the Speech Language Pathology (SLP) professionals who support students throughout the division.

For students interested in exploring careers in Speech Language Pathology or rehabilitation services, HPSD offers a dual credit opportunity through NorQuest College: 𝐇𝐀𝐁𝟏𝟎𝟎𝟏 – 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐑𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

Through this online dual credit course, students are introduced to interdisciplinary rehabilitation practices and explore fields including:
• Speech Language Therapy
• Occupational Therapy
• Physical Therapy
• Therapeutic Recreation

Students can earn both high school CTS credits and post-secondary credits while learning more about potential future career pathways.

The High Prairie Traditional Pow Wow would like to honour Indigenous graduates during the 𝐏𝐨𝐰 𝐖𝐨𝐰 𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟔.

Any graduates who would like to be recognized are asked to please let Indigenous Education Lead Mr. Chalifoux know by the end of this month.
