FREE drop in run tomorrow (Feb 15) 🙌

Meet at Hannah’s Cafe on Bloor and we’ll go over the workout and then head out for some hills and tempo! Join our Strava Group (link in bio to stay up to date on our group runs).

Summary: Hills and tempo at Highpark!
10 min progressive warm up
3x1:00 hill repeats on 2:00
1x6:00, 5:00, 4:00 all with 3:00 jog between
Cool down

Our warm up is 10 minute with 5 minutes easy, 5 minutes easy but slightly faster (this can be as little as a 5s increase).

For the hill efforts, we’re going to look to target a strong sustained 1:00, at an RPE of 8. It’s not all out effort, we are however working pretty hard without letting up. You’ll have 2 minutes to descend the hill easily, so take your take and own the recovery, stand recover for whatever remaining time is on the clock or an active float

We’re going to be looking to tackle 3x1:00 hill efforts back to back with a 2:00 descending/standing recovery. Followed by descending tempo efforts of 6:00, 5:00, 4:00 - keep this steady and build into them, it helps to know what the bottom and top end of your tempo range is and practice negative splitting your efforts. You will have 3:00 of easy running as recovery between efforts (a bit less than last week).

For anyone looking to take on additional milage, we encourage you to extend your warm up or cool-down

Curious about the name?

Mesa means table in Spanish . A table is a good analogy for how to become a better athlete. You need balance. You don’t have a good table if one leg is shorter than the rest. You can’t do your best if one aspect of your life is neglected.

A table is also where people get together. Sharing your journey with others makes it exponentially more meaningful.

So our “table” for endurance athletes looks like: pillars for mind, body, soul, and purpose. And a place to gather as a community.

Plus, we think Mesa Endurance sounds cool.
