A huge shout-out to the unsung heroes of childcare providers and home based preschools—the incredible children of the educators.

While we often celebrate the amazing work that childcare providers and educators do (and rightly so!), but there's a special group of quiet heroes who don't always receive the recognition they deserve.

The children who share their moms (and dads) with countless little explorers every single day. They open not only their homes, but also their hearts.

They become bonus siblings, best friends, peacekeepers, entertainers, snack buddies, story tellers, swing pushers, and cuddle givers.

They're the helping hands gathering sticks, the smiling faces on woodland walks, the experts at spotting hidden treasures, and the big-hearted legends who make every child feel welcome. They show incredible flexibility when family plans, routines, and spaces revolve around the rhythm of the program.

Sometimes they wait while someone else's needs come first. Sometimes they share their parent, their time, and their special places more than people realize.

And yet, day after day, they show up with generosity, compassion, and open hearts.

So here's to my own wonderful twin boys, and to all the children of childcare providers and nature school educators everywhere—the true heroes behind the scenes.

This is the magic of a mixed-age classroom—leadership develops naturally, confidence flourishes, and every child has something valuable to offer.

It’s a beautiful reminder that children don’t just learn alongside one another; they learn from one another.
