We continue to focus and support foundational literacy skills, at home families can:
5 Quick Ways to Support Teen Literacy at Home
• Embrace all reading. Graphic novels, audiobooks, sports magazines, and blogs all count. Let your teen choose what interests them.
• Listen on the go. Mix up the routine with audiobooks or podcasts during family commutes, chores, or workouts to build vocabulary and comprehension.
• Connect to screen time. If your teen loves a specific movie, show, or video game, encourage them to read the book or comic series it was based on.
• Talk about what you read. You don't need a formal book club. Just chat casually about interesting articles, news stories, or book plots over dinner.
• Model the habit. Let your teen see you reading for pleasure or purpose. When adults read, teens view it as a valuable life skill.
