👀 visual anatomy 🧠
just a couple of art pieces I have in my home treatment space
love when I find patients hypnotized by them
my goal as a healthcare professional is to create a comfortable and resourceful environment for you to ask questions and make connections
there are💡moments every day
there are no stupid questions - just jokes that suck

a few times a month, patients come in telling me they tore their rotator cuff 🤷🏼♂️
clinical experience has me looking at them skeptically and the muscle testing commences
they may not have imaging available early on to confirm which structures are compromised
the shoulder joint is our most movable joints (17 muscles attach to the scapula) but also most susceptible to injury
the following post is designed to help you become more familiar with what is underneath your skin
muscle is a tissue that contracts and stabilizes the joints it surrounds and crosses
like winding up a jack-in-the-box, constant contractions create tension and limit our comfortable range of motion
we need to listen to our body and take breaks
although rotator cuff injuries are common, most can be prevented!
daily stretching, putting your body through all capable joint motions, hydration, proper nutrition and listening to our body when it needs are break are vital components in maintaining normal function of our parts
put down your phone and rotate that rotator cuff!

"I know a shortcut"
If you've ever hiked or walked anywhere with me, you'll agree that I blaze my own trails
what does being in nature do to you?
boosts the immune system.
lowers blood pressure.
reduces stress.
improves mood.
increases ability to focus, even in those with ADHD.
accelerates recovery from surgery or illness.
increases energy level.
improves sleep.
Get outside. Exercise. We were meant to walk.

It has been a busy past few months
I preach balance but did not practice it
I started teaching Physiology at my old massage therapy school last September - literally my dream job - talking about how the body works to eager minds
I am fortunate to have immersed myself in fields that I am passionate about
The only thing missing is more time
There was an unplanned absence from social media
Emails were missed, phone calls not returned, personal relationships suffered, health and exercised was shelved
I cannot do everything - I get this now
I was the worst
I had to go on vacation to catch up (good thing I don't need much sleep)
But we learn from our mistakes
2019 will be different
Looking forward to teaching, DJING, treating patients and reconnecting with those important in my life
