A joy to visit Hansa Haus (German Canadian Club Hansa) in Mississauga yesterday. We spent time with iPhone and Android basics, and explored how our phones can support us beyond simple voice calls. This group was wonderfully curious and welcoming, and it was such a pleasure to join Kaffee Klatsch, linger for heartfelt conversations, and offer tech support along the way.

This session was a reminder of why I take the approach I do. The presentation offered ideas, but the real value came when we applied them together. From spotting phishing texts to remembering how to find and use key apps, we covered a remarkable amount of ground.

We were having such a good time problem‑solving that I accidentally ate into Bingo time (my apologies!). I’m already looking forward to my next visit to Hansa Haus, and I hope the updates we made help your devices feel friendlier and make daily life just a bit easier.

As a huge fan and longtime patron of the Hamilton Public Library, I’m proud to be partnering with them to deliver a talk on October 6 focused on online safety in the age of AI. Registration is open for this free, beginner‑friendly session at HPL’s Dundas Branch: https://events.hpl.ca/event/17053334

I bring experience working with older adults at all stages of technology adoption, and the two questions I’m asked most often are: “Can you explain AI in simple, practical terms?” and “How do I stay safe online?”

This talk combines both topics in a clear, accessible way designed to build confidence, not overwhelm. I look forward to meeting you, answering your questions, and connecting on this important and timely subject.

For many, technology can feel like a fast moving world we’re not quite part of. Yet staying connected to family, friends, and trustworthy information has never been more important.

I’m thrilled to be partnering with Glanbrook Community Services - Binbrook to offer a beginner‑friendly digital literacy series designed specifically for older adults who want to build digital confidence and learn practical, everyday online skills.

Over four Tuesdays, participants will learn at a comfortable pace, ask questions, and explore digital tools that make life easier and help us stay connected:

-𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 101 (October 13, 2026)
-𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬 (October 20, 2026)
-𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 & 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤 (October 27, 2026)

Every day, I see older adults use technology to do something meaningful: connect with loved ones, manage their health, or simply feel more confident navigating the digital world.

And when people work with me, they’re not looking for a chatbot or online guides. They’re looking for a human who can sit beside them, listen, and help them use technology in a way that feels comfortable and empowering.

That's why I'm making a small shift that feels completely aligned with the work I do and the way people already know me. My business is now officially named Talk to a Human Inc.

It’s already how people refer to me. It's my website URL and email. It's even what ended up on my name tag at a recent business leaders roundtable.

This name reflects what clients value most: a real conversation and a friendly guide who helps them use technology as a tool for the things they want to accomplish.

I can’t believe it’s already June 30th. What an incredible it’s been!

Across events, workshops, and even those spontaneous grocery‑store conversations, I’ve met some of the kindest professionals in community care and seniors services. I’ve also worked with clients who are genuinely excited about the progress they’re making with digital tools. Watching everyday tasks become easier as new tech skills click into place has filled my cup.

One impromptu exchange reinforced my belief that learning new technology is most powerful when it happens in person, through real conversation.

While printing some learning materials at a local shop, I met a woman who was brand new to QR codes and the self‑serve photo kiosk. As I guided her through the steps, we ended up chatting about summer plans, our shared love of dogs, and how family photos can brighten any fridge.

I ran into her again this week, and she told me she’s now printing her own photos, and even used a QR code to access a restaurant menu. It completely made my day!

If we’ve met at a conference, fair, or even at a checkout line this month—thank you. Every conversation builds community and gives me new insight into how I can better support older adults with technology.

It was a pleasure to join fellow business leaders from across Hamilton this morning to share ideas for the City of Hamilton's next 𝐀𝐠𝐞‑𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐲 & 𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚‑𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧 (2027–2031).

Together with business owners, community partners, and non‑profit organizations, we explored opportunities, challenges, and practical ways to build a more age‑friendly and dementia‑inclusive city.

At every age‑friendly and intergenerational event I attend in Hamilton, I’m reminded of how collaborative and committed this community is. Today’s conversation was wide‑ranging, thoughtful, and energizing. I look forward to more in the coming months.
