Statement from the SMUSA Board of Directors - April 29th, 2026⁠

The Saint Mary’s University Students’ Association (SMUSA) would like to inform students that Alex Melendy has decided not to continue into his second term on the Board of Directors, where he would have served as Board Chair.

This was not a decision made lightly and was taken due to personal reasons. We thank Alex for his contributions and dedication to the work of the Board.

Following this transition, the Board has taken the necessary internal measures, and Kavya Shah has been elected to serve as SMUSA Board Chair for the 2026–2027 academic year.

SPRING & SUMMER U-PASS 🚌 ⁠
Starting April 27th students can pick up their U-Pass at the Information Desk on the first floor of the Student Centre! Students must be enrolled in 1 or more courses in the Spring/Summer to be eligible to receive the U-Pass. Make sure you have your Student ID card with you.⁠

In collaboration with Career & Experiential Learning, SMUSA proudly hosts the annual SLRA ceremony to celebrate outstanding student leaders. Since 2012, this award has recognized students who demonstrate exceptional leadership within the Saint Mary’s University community and beyond. Each year, up to three students from each Faculty — Arts, Science, Sobey School of Business, and Graduate Studies — are honoured for their impact. 👏
