"Is my child ready for school?"
It's a question we hear from families as their children grow and prepare for their next big adventure. While learning letters and numbers can be exciting (and often develops naturally through their play), school readiness is about so much more.
Preschool classrooms typically have smaller class sizes and lower educator-to-child ratios than children will experience in a school setting. This allows us offer individualized support while helping the children develop the skills needed to thrive in a larger classroom setting.
The ability to make friends, communicate needs, follow routines, manage emotions, try new things, and develop independence are all important skills that help children feel confident and successful as they transition to school.
Every child develops these skills at their own pace, and there is no single path to being "ready." We celebrate the unique strengths, personalities, abilities, cultures, and experiences that each child brings to our learning community.
Take a look through our infographic to learn more about the many ways children build school readiness through play, relationships, and everyday experiences.
What school readiness skill have you seen your child develop the most this year? We'd love to hear your stories in the comments!

This week, the children explored art inspired by Claude Monet and his beautiful water lily paintings.
Using soft colours and layered materials, they created their own interpretations of lily pads, experimenting with texture, colour blending, and placement. Each piece reflects the child’s unique perspective.
Experiences like this support creativity, observation, and confidence, while also introducing children to well-known artists in a meaningful, hands-on way.
We love seeing their creativity come to life!

Yesterday we enjoyed a beautiful “paint what you see” activity inspired by a bouquet of fresh flowers
The children were invited to observe closely, noticing colours, shapes, and details, and then express what they saw through their own unique paintings. It was wonderful to watch their creativity unfold as they explored at their own pace.
Experiences like this support not only creativity, but also focus, observation skills, and confidence in expressing ideas.
We love creating opportunities for meaningful, open-ended art in our classroom and we think their finished pieces turned out just beautifully!

If the child is leading, imagining, changing, and exploring...it’s open-ended play.✨
Children may explore loose parts, sensory trays, blocks and construction materials, natural items, pretend play props, or art materials without templates. In open-ended play, the adult’s role is intentional but minimal. Adults create thoughtful invitations to play, observe without directing, and support children through open-ended questions rather than instructions. Time and repetition are valued, allowing children to revisit ideas and deepen their learning.
Adults trust the child’s ideas and choices, knowing that meaningful learning happens when children lead.❤
