Learning story: Butterfly Hug

Today, we read Llama Misses Mama and talked about how it feels to miss someone we love. The children learned that it is okay to feel sad or worried when Mama is away and that those feelings can change when we spend time with caring friends and adults.

After the story, we explored the song “Butterfly Hut.” We used our hands and bodies to practise the movements together. The children enjoyed watching the signs and trying them on their own.

For a child who really misses Mama, We talked about how Mama will come back and encouraged the child to use words, gestures, or signs to express their feelings and use butterfly hug to calm themselves down.

Learning:
The child is developing emotional awareness, communication skills, and confidence in expressing feelings. And practice the early emotion regulation.

Today, the children used the leaves they collected during yesterday’s nature hunt to create leaf paintings. They dipped the leaves in paint and pressed them onto paper, exploring different shapes, textures, and patterns. The children enjoyed watching their nature finds turn into colourful artwork while expressing their creativity and strengthening their fine motor skills.
