Who doesn't love reading a good book under the shade of a tree?

Our Littles are certainly making the most of the summery weather in their playground.โ๏ธ๐
(Shout out to Free Lab for creating this beautiful octagonal bench around one of our maple trees last summer! ๐ช๐ )

Under this year's Elementary Theme of "Living Things", students across the grades researched Migration, Endangered Species, Animal Taxonomy, and Biomes. Their studies highlighted the important role oceans play in sustaining life, and what we can do to help protect marine life and habitats.

Seven of our Middle Schoolers headed to Keji on a surprisingly scorching opening weekend in May to complete the Adventurous Journey component of their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award.

Congratulations to each of them for this achievement.

Shout out to alumnus and Gold Achiever, for supporting the trip as their Assessor, and a big thank you to teacher Christy for coordinating our Duke of Ed programme and supporting these students to achieve their goals (often even after they have left our school).๐

Our Tag-A-Thon fundraiser turned 'dance party' was a success, and the smiles surely say it all! What a lovely day in the sun which made for a great start to the weekend. Thank you to all of the sponsors who contributed to our Outdoor Spaces Project; your continued efforts help move our project along - one step at a time to new and improved outdoor play space!

May 17 is the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia, and serves as a reminder to stand up against the discrimination and danger many still face today.
Despite significant progress towards equal rights for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, around the world - and here at home - people still face discrimination and human rights violations based on s*xual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and s*x characteristics.
We are all human, and no one should ever be scared to be who they are, or love who they love.
This day reminds us to choose safety, dignity, and equality for all.

Our staff experienced such thoughtful care and kind gestures during Teacher Appreciation Week. Thanks to theย School Support Committeeย (SSC)ย for coordinating heart-warming subterfuge of all sorts, and creating opportunities for students and parents to share words of encouragement.ย ๐ฉต๐
Beginning with an apple-themed table oโ treats and whimsical mailboxes for kind words, we enjoyedย an early morning parent choir performance, surprise deliveries, a serenade by the Choir Clubs, and a classy coffee break cart prepared by parent volunteers, and delivered by members of our Kindness Club.ย ๐
We are grateful to everyone whoย strengthened the efforts of that small, hard-working committee by contributing energy, time, and resources to the plans that unfolded over the week.๐
Our community is the best! ๐ซถ

It has been quite exciting to watch the action happening next door...and the view is even better from our rooftop classroom!
Just wait until things get moving on our side of the fence!
(Who remembers watching them knock down the old apartment buildings next door 15 years ago?)
