Mitacs has joined the Atlantic Prosperity Charter to help strengthen connections between talent and opportunity across Atlantic Canada.

Led by the Association of Atlantic Universities and the Atlantic Chamber of Commerce, the Charter connects universities and employers to help students and graduates gain experience, build networks, and pursue careers in the region.

By working together with post-secondary institutions, industry, and communities, we’re strengthening Atlantic Canada’s talent pipeline, supporting graduate retention, and helping more highly skilled people build their futures in the region.

To Dr. Lucy Thompson and Dr. Catherine O'Connell-Cooper, the bright field of Martian rocks stood out like a sore thumb.

The geologists, based at UNB's Planetary and Space Science Centre, were helping guide NASA's Curiosity rover through a region of Gale Crater known as Gediz Vallis when some very different looking rocks caught their attention.

Using the Canadian-built Alpha Particle X-ray Spectrometer (APXS) aboard Curiosity, the international team determined the rocks were composed of pure elemental sulfur, something never before identified on Mars.

Three computer science students spent the summer putting big questions to the test, including whether programmers can spot AI-generated code, what NHL interviews can tell us about performance, and how machine learning can support medical research.

Avery Doiron, Neel Gopaul, and Keshav Lakhan each received a $9,250 Alley Heaps Undergraduate Research Internship.

Six MSVU faculty have been awarded a combined $829,961 from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).

From helping children learn to read and supporting newcomers to Canada, to improving health knowledge and advancing fairness and inclusion, these new Insight Grants and Insight Development Grants are funding research that affects people’s everyday lives and well-being.

We're excited to announce the appointment of an accomplished expert advisory board to advance plans for a Centre for Excellence in Podcasting and Audio Storytelling (CEPAS).

The Board members are Raeesa Alibhai, BJ(Hons)’24, Golda Arthur, BJ’98, Nana aba Duncan, Cesil Fernandes, Dr. Duncan McCue, BA’92, DCL’18, Tanya Springer, Dr. Gillian Turnbull, MFA’17, Jeff Ulster and Rhys Waters.

Assistant Professor Pauline Dakin, MFA'15, the centre’s executive director, says it’s a dream team that will ensure King’s podcasting programs stay relevant and plugged into the industry and its trends.

“These are people at the top of the podcasting game, from producers and show runners, to researchers and academics, to executives who make decisions at leading podcasting enterprises in Canada. They’ll ensure that what we teach in our courses produces excellent future podcasters with desirable, hireable skills.”
