From the refugee crisis, to Brexit, to the US presidential election, issues of migration and identity raise controversy and defy simple solutions. This intensive summer course will bring together students and researchers from both sides of the Atlantic to explore these issues, drawing on scholarship in political science, sociology, history, art and literature. Through seminar-style learning with Canadian and European experts, students will gain a greater understanding of historical and contemporary issues and policy debates in Canada and the EU. The International Summer Institute on Migration and Identity offers visiting students a package that includes an intensive credit course (3 credit hours or 6 ECTS), experiences beyond the classroom, an optional ESL course, orientation, and on-campus accommodations.
