We asked our Chief Returning Officer, Maria Rizzetto, to talk a bit more about why she got involved with the LSS and why you should too! 🙌
“I joined the LSS as a section rep in 1L. I loved knowing what was happening at the school, relaying feedback from my section, and contributing to decision-making. As a result of that involvement I was appointed to the Judicial Board for the DSU and in 3L was appointed Chair. While I got busier with involvements, my appreciation of the LSS led me to take on the position of Chief Returning Officer to run the election and encourage participation.
Joining the LSS executive is an ideal way to advocate for students, build relationships with staff and students, and acquire or streamline skills. I have seen two very different LSS executives composed of diverse personalities thrive in unique but equally effective ways, this is an exceptional leadership opportunity for those who chose to seize it. All the executive positions have an element of independence over their portfolios and require distinct skills while presenting different challenges. I encourage you to review the executive positions and campaign for a role you’d be comfortable in or one which would enable you to explore something new.”
The nomination period for LSS executive positions is now open and will close on Tuesday, March 2nd at 4pm Atlantic!
