In Iran, Baha’is are denied entry to universities. The Baha’i (BIHE), an independent, decentralized university system run by volunteers, was formed to give young Baha’is their only chance for a university-level education. Several teachers and administrators of the BIHE have been arrested for their work. The documentary, Education Under Fire, profiles the growth, struggle, and inspiring spirit of the BIHE. The film connects a diverse audience to a grave human rights issue, a powerful story of resilience against oppression, and the need to respect human rights everywhere.

The Dalhousie Amnesty International Society and the Baha'i Community of HRM bring you an opportunity to view this eye-opening documentary which will be followed by time for questions with some people who hold this issue close to their hearts, and an informal discussion. Light snacks will be provided.

Home Education Under Fire (EUF) is a campaign/film developed to address the Iranian governments denial of the right to education for ideological and religious reasons.
