Our first run around the new track!
Dalhousie Supermileage
The goal of the Dalhousie Supermileage team is to make the most fuel efficient car possible and compete in the annual Shell Eco-marathon Americas competition.
Last year, we had an all new team and made a brand new car, since we hadn't competed since 2009. Although we ran out of time to fuel inject our engine and so we used our engine as it was, we still managed to place 12th out of 49 teams in our category (gasoline Prototype). We were the top Canadian team with 806 mpg. This year, we hope to achieve at least 1 000 mpg and place at least within the top
One of our test laps around the practice track in Detroit!
After a frustrating weekend where nothing seemed to go right, we were finally able to post a good run, pushing us to 6th place with a score of 1030 mpg!

Just coming down off the high that was our latest competition. Watch this video if you've ever wondered how we do it.
Bonus for viewer who really want the experience. Lay down on hot pavement wrapped in a black blanket on a 30+ degree day. Don't forget to put a noisy engine beside you head!

Our second and last day of this years Shell Eco Marathon comes to an end on a high note for the Dalhousie Supermileage team. We were able to complete 99 kilometers over ten sessions without any sign of reliability issues.
Our final result was 2191 mpg (970 km/L) achieved today, over double our previous car, and good enough to secure 4th place overall (third place Canadian team)!
Day one of competition ends, showing promise in our completely new car. With four successful runs completed, we have been able to demolish our previous record (965 miles per gallon) with a best score of 1640 mpg! We're still gaining hundreds of mpg in every attempt we make, so hopefully we'll be able to at least double our previous record.
Just a quick video of our car running around the final turn of the track here in Houston. We've completed two scored runs at this point, and have several more to go this afternoon. Once we get some free time we'll upload some good quality GoPro footage for y'all!
The team and car have finally made it to Houston, after a beautiful drive through the USA! Registration and technical inspections tomorrow. Check back soon to see how things progress!

Dal team’s vehicle for success When you’re testing a lightweight, three-wheel, low-speed, fuel-friendly vehicle, a car requiring the helmet-wearing driver to lie down on the job and use bicycle brakes to stop, potential rollovers come with the territory. But operating the engineering and science project still makes for a good tim…
