As we start a new academic year, we wanted to reach out to our practice community with a word of thanks, and a message to potential preceptors. Your ongoing contributions are crucial to the success of our learners, and to the continued growth of the profession!
Preceptorship provides a mutually beneficial opportunity to support the training of future occupational therapists. Students can bring a fresh lens, and a wealth of new knowledge to your team. This opportunity to apply their knowledge in a clinical setting contributes to the development of the required occupational therapy competencies. As a result of your wisdom and guidance, our learners expand their skills and grow as professionals.
On this note, we are recruiting preceptors for our upcoming fieldwork blocks, as per the following schedule:
OCCU 6019 (Formerly OCCU 6111)
January 4, 2027 to March 1, 2027
· Starts on first Monday after New Year’s
· Excludes: New Year’s Day (Jan 1), Family Day (Feb 15)
· (12 weeks before the start date is October 12, 2026)
OCCU 6029 (Formerly OCCU 6222)
March 4, 2027 to April 30, 2027
· Excludes: Good Friday (Mar 26, 2027), Easter Monday (Mar 29, 2027)

OCCU 5029 (Formerly OCCU 5222)
May 4, 2027 to June 29, 2027
· Excludes: Victoria Day (May 24, 2027)
· (12 weeks before the start date is February 9, 2027)
If you are interested in supervising an OT student during one of the above blocks, please be in touch - our learners would be thrilled to receive a placement under your supervision. We are also open to shared supervision – i.e. you and a colleague collaborate to supervise one student.
We are preferentially recruiting for OCCU 6019 placements (January 4, 2027 to March 1, 2027), as this block occurs first. If you are able to take a student during any of the above blocks, it would be best to offer for the 6019 block. Of course, if you are only able to offer during 6029 or 5029, we would be more than happy to hear from you!
