On September 4th, Career Services will be hosting Societies and Volunteer Day 2025 in collaboration with MSVU Student Orientation Week.

By hosting this event we hope to strengthen our community partnerships for our Co-Curricular Record (CCR) program and to help students find positions that they can add to their CCR.

JOB SCAM ALERT. Yesterday, May 21, students may have received a job scam email called ‘JOB OFFER’ from a fictitious person named Danielle Castro, outlining a part-time position and containing a link to apply. Do not click the link to apply, do not offer personal information, and delete the email.

As always, you can protect yourself from job scams!

Google ‘Job Scam Prevention Tips MSVU’ or ‘Fraud Recovery MSVU’ to learn how to keep yourself safe and to learn more about next steps if you have given personal information to what you believe is a job scam.

In general:

—If you haven’t applied for the job and someone reaches out to you, it may be a job scam.
—Do not click on suspicious links.
—Research employers before applying.
—Beware of jobs that are too good to be true (e.g. a vague list of tasks to be completed remotely for $480 per week for 2 to 3 hours of work per day. That’s $32 per hour. This is not realistic).
—Never deposit cheques for an employer or etransfer your own money to an employer.
