What a week we had at the Coveside Spring Festival! 🌟
Last week, Lancers took 10 horses, 12 riders, and an incredible support team to Chester to compete at the beautiful Coveside Spring Festival.
Everyone showed up for their horses, themselves, and each other, and all the hard work they’ve put in over the winter truly paid off. From the first ride to the final round, our riders and horses delivered some fantastic performances and achieved some great results.
It’s such a treat seeing our lesson horses shine. These amazing horses wear many hats throughout the year, and it’s always inspiring to watch them step into the competition ring and perform so well.
Congratulations to all our riders, horses, grooms and supporters. We’re so proud of everything you accomplished! 🐴💙👏

🐴✨ What an incredible honour to witness not one, but two Lancer horse-and-rider partnerships complete a Century Ride dressage test in front of an accredited judge and earn their place in the prestigious Century Club!
To qualify, the combined age of the horse and rider must total 100 years or more. A remarkable celebration of partnership, dedication, and longevity.

The Century Club recognizes horse-and-rider pairs internationally whose combined ages total 100 years or more. This year, we’re proud to showcase:
✨ A 76-year-old rider with Candy, age 25✨ A 75-year-old rider with Bud, age 28
Bud, who has called Halifax Lancers home for 25 years, will also be celebrated as he retires during our 90th anniversary year.
The Century Club Ride is a reminder that passion has no expiry date, experience matters, and age is truly just a number.

🌾Hay is for Horses 🌾and we need your help! We are expecting a hay delivery this evening at 5:30pm and are in desperate need of more volunteers! Our hay comes as 50lb compressed bales and we get a whole tractor trailer load. This is hard, dirty work but we've got to do it! Please give a warm welcome to the newest member of the Horses of Halifax herd - Wasuet (wah-su-et) 🌸. Our newest horse was named by Mi'kmaq community members and knowledge holders who have met her and learned about our shared values. This name represents resiliency, growth, new beginnings, and connection to all living things. Wasuet (wah-su-et) means blossom. Since her arrival, Wasuet has shown us her sweet and willing disposition. She happily makes friends with all the horses and humans that come her way. We look forward to learning more from Wasuet as she continues to blossom here at Lancers. Welcome, Wasuet!

Lancers has been built over 90 years by dedicated people who have come together sharing their love of horses and contributing volunteerism and leadership which enables generations to pass on their legacy of building better lives through horses.
We share our deepest sympathies to the family of Vernon Krause, including Lancer alumni Margy and Shauna, who contributed so much to our community as a former President of the Board of Directors and passed away last week. Thank you for your service to Lancers past, present, and future.
