Monday mornings playground adventure turned into a hands-on creative experience ✨
Armed with cardboard, child-safe glue guns, and plenty of curiosity, the children explored the outdoors to gather their own natural materials—pinecones, sticks, branches, and little rocks—before bringing their treasures back to build unique creations 🌿
Before jumping in, they took time to carefully explore the glue guns, learning how they worked and how to use them safely. With a little guidance (and a lot of excitement!), they discovered how to gently press the trigger and watched in awe as the purple glue flowed out—quickly drying and turning their ideas into reality.
There were so many thoughtful observations along the way:
💜 The glue starts purple
⏱️ It dries quickly—so you have to work fast!
🔥 The tip feels warm
🕸️ The glue stretches into long, stringy lines
As the activity unfolded, the children practiced patience while waiting for turns, kindness as they shared materials, and problem-solving when they realized they needed more glue and figured out how to refill it.
*To expand this activity after gluing, we set out some paint brushes and paint to let the children paint what they had created. 🎨🖌️
A beautiful blend of creativity, teamwork, and discovery 💫

Tangible room has been doing different things with the loose parts. The children were lifting, stacking and transporting the styrofoam throughout the classroom. Some children were using cardboard tubes to build with the styrofoam. We continued the exploration with using the pieces to paint on. The children were mixing, spreading the paint over it to create art. It was about the process not the end product.

The children in the Tangible Room have been exploring loose parts. The children were using tubes to balls, Pom Poms in. Some children were putting the Pom Poms into the different holders. Other children were exploring scarves by pulling them out of the holder, playing peekaboo, covering the yo babies with them as well as the cardboard tubes. ended

I have no instructions, yet I teach.
I have no rules, yet I guide.
In tiny hands, I become anything
A tower, a road, a world inside.
I can be stones, sticks, shells, or rings,
Nothing at first… but then everything.
I spark ideas you cannot see,
And build young minds so silently.
What am I?
The world around us remains full of wonder, inviting children to explore, question, and discover. Through the use of loose parts found in their environment, children engage in meaningful play that supports their curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills. These open-ended materials allow each child to construct knowledge in their own unique way, fostering independence, imagination, and a deeper understanding of the world around them.
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all our KIDS R KIDS families for generously donating loose parts for our learning environments. Your contributions play a vital role in enriching the children’s experiences, and thanks to your support, they are joyfully exploring, creating, and learning through the endless possibilities that loose parts provide.

We had a very exciting visitor this morning! One of our children’s moms joined us and shared her special knowledge and skills by teaching us how to use a sewing machine to make a fabric bag.
The children gathered eagerly around the table, full of curiosity and excitement. Everyone had a chance to participate! They took turns pressing the foot pedal, discovering how it made the machine move, and each child got to choose their favorite fabric; there were so many colors, patterns, and textures to explore.
We also practiced important measuring and cutting skills. The children helped measure the fabric for the bag handles and carefully used scissors to cut them to the right size. While waiting for their turn, others stayed busy cutting their own fabric pieces, building confidence and coordination.
There was lots of wonderful conversation happening too! The children talked about what they wanted to create, pointed out different colors and designs, and explored how each fabric felt. Some children even worked together as a team: one operating the foot pedal while the other guided the fabric, learning cooperation and teamwork in a fun, hands-on way.
A few children came and went from the table, excited to check on the progress and see how the bag was coming along. In the end, we created a beautiful fabric bag that we can now use in our classroom for play.
We were so grateful for our special guest and made sure to say a big thank you for such a fun and educational experience!🩷

Yesterday turned into a wiggly, wonderful science adventure! 🪱
The children eagerly worked together to create a nice and comfy new home for our worms. They filled a clear container with layers of cardboard and rich worm soil, chatting excitedly as they went. Using a small spray bottle, they took turns misting the soil, carefully testing and deciding when it felt “just right.” What thoughtful little scientists at work!
Once everything was ready, we added some worm food on top and introduced our new wiggly friends: night crawlers! ✨ The children watched closely, little fingers pointed, some reached out bravely, and a few even held the worms gently in their hands. What a fantastic way to explore textures and build confidence with living things!
When it was time to tidy up, we placed the worm habitat beside the fish tank. But uh-oh… we discovered a problem! Our worms needed air, and the lid didn’t have any holes. This led to a great learning moment about how living things have needs, just like us.
A big thank you to one of our families for helping us solve the problem! Today, a proud child shared how they worked with their dad to add air holes to the lid.
The children were so excited to check on their worms today, peering through the container and searching for their wriggly friends. This experience sparked curiosity, care for living things, and hands-on discovery. 🌱
